Pugs - I know you have been active but I asked for your game analysis last week of how you expected the game to go and you pretty much nailed it. I feel like it is good luck at this point. How do you see this one playing out on Sunday?

Just want to make one thing clear since it seems to be a recurrent theme here that the perception is most Ravens fans think the disparity between these two games is large and it winds up being a blowout. I don’t think that represents the fanbase. Anyone predicting that is not only wrong but disrespectful. The Chiefs have earned the right to never be considered outlclassed/outgunned.

I bring up the 23 Ravens DVOA not to say that the Ravens are so much better than the Chiefs. The point is more so that the Ravens are better than the other “contenders” that people here want to lump the Ravens in with (Titans, Texans, Bills, Bengals, Eagles). The Chiefs aren’t the Dolphins or 9ers or other teams the Ravens beat up on. But the Ravens aren’t the Titans or Bills.

So I don’t fault Chiefs fans whatsoever for pounding their chests and saying that they’re infallible until proven otherwise. I just think the Ravens have the best chance yet to prove it otherwise, and there are empirical reasons to believe that.

He's like Adrian Peterson as a QB. And their defense is good enough that I'd be surprised if that actually happened. It's going to be a close game and it's going to come down to who makes the mistake.

I mean he was down 2 scored the last time he played the Chiefs. I forgot that was all Niemann And Sorenson. I mean Mike Danna is still on the team and I bet he's still punishing himself for biting on that nasty fake that put the Ravens on top.

What? Are your reeruned. You and your minions in this thread pointed out that you had already beaten the two NFC teams left. I am pointing out that the 49ers racked up 429 yards in the game, and Purdy had 5 picks which gave you great field position. Purdy is not Mahomes...

How many of that 429 yards was because the game was already decided by early 3rs QTr and the 9era had to throw the ball to try to get back in the game.? How many points did they score?

If only he had Lamar around to tell him how to properly structure a sentence.

Hey Chiefs fans. What's going on. Important questions from the opposition:

1. Are there more Chiefs fans in Kansas or Missouri?

2. Do you think Swift is packing heat and / or friends with / taking tips from Michelle Obama?

3. Do you think the NFL and KC has conspired with the 9th circle of hell to be gifted a trip to the SB, where a 3 hour loop of purposeful torture is to be unleashed onto the public, involving Pfizer and State Farm commercials>back with camera shots of Swift or Kelce bro shirtless>football, as part of a very meticulously scripted torture-suicide depopulation plan?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

You’re placing a lot of pride and credit on beating a lot of teams with winning records and DVOA. I get it. Those accomplishments point to consistency, good coaching and a strong roster.

But despite all that, the Ravens haven’t faced down and dominated an elite QB. The best thing they faced was an already-injured Joe Burrow.

If the Ravens win and win in convincing fashion against KC, that’s strong support for them being as good as the numbers suggest.

Re: the 21 Bengals, they had an elite scoring defense, elite QB, and the best trip of WR weapons in the NFL. That 19 Titans team had Derrick Henry at his peak, all sorts of “hot momentum” and a really strong OL. And good coaching all around on both, with no major or fatal flaws.

Can’t deny anything you’ve said here. The Ravens can only play the schedule in front of them. They beat Burrow, Herbert, Lawrence, Tua, Purdy, and Goff. Was it Mahomes and Allen? No, but they weren’t on the schedule.

The 21 Bengals and 19 Titans were good teams, but they weren’t great teams. They don’t have the infrastructure and across-the-board quality the Ravens have. They didn’t dominate the regular season. And they didn’t win it all.

Of course, this Ravens team has to actually do the damn thing if they want to be considered great. I’m just trying to frame the context in a reality where they do beat the Chiefs/NFC rep. Not a prediction as much as it’s a hypothetical. If that happens, this isn’t a team that you can wave away as lucky or simply good; eviscerating the regular season and then going through the dynasty of this era is historically good. You’re right that this game will be a good litmus test for either validating or invalidating a metric like DVOA in terms of its ability to predict postseason success.

Lamar ain't dumb, man. He always had at least 3 A's on his report card.

In...

In his name.

Shout out the guy who goes through every single one of my posts and immediately thumbs down them regardless as to how deferential toward the Chiefs I am or objective about the game. I can only hope that the Ravens have half that level of homefield advantage on Sunday.

The key to beating Baltimore has and always will be making Jackson uncomfortable. Spags will be sending heat all day. Mahomes just needs to play like he did against Buffalo. Keep it tight and productive.

I feel like we win. But the Ravens defense is a MUCH better unit than what we just faced in Buffalo. Not only are they better as a whole, but Buffalo was pretty beat up, Fins too. This is gonna be a MUCH bigger task. But…. Mahomes vs the number 1 defense almost always goes to Mahomes.
