No, but they might have been stopped around their exit by some bikers.

Could those of you who live in Joplin try and make it a point to update this thread maybe once a month with a general synopsis of the cleanup efforts? I think it would be fascinating documentation of the recovery process from the eyes of people on the ground.

That sounds easy to do now, but I'm not talking about the next couple months as much as I am the next few years.

I'll try to my part.

BTW, here are mug shots of those arrested for looting.

So are those people looting from department stores or actually scavenging destroyed homes? Stealing from an entity like Walmart is bad enough, but stealing from those people who have lost everything is beneath contempt.

I just got back yesterday from the Chicken Coop Open. It's an outdoor dart tournament held every year in Noel, Mo. This year was the 30th year that it has been held. Every year they have a charity auction to raise money for whatever people or charity group that the organizers of the tournament think are deserving. Since there are a lot of darters in Joplin and the surrounding area, they decided to donate the proceeds to the victims of the tornado (not sure which organization, probably Red Cross or similar). Anyway, the high water mark for this auction in the past was a little over $2,000. This year over $6,000 was raised. It was amazing the generosity that was displayed. They first item up for bid was a rock that the auctioneer picked up off the ground. It brought $20. I'm so proud to be associated with such a great group of people.

I think both. I know they reported of one suspicious guy being stopped while leaving a house, and after they found a lot of tools in his backpack, they looked at his cell phone. They found a recent message, telling a woman to be his look-out as he left the house.

Here's an update about St. John's. The video is at least a week old, but it's kinda neat what they've done for the treatment of - at least a limited number of patients.

I've talked to some law enforcement and they said almost all the problems are coming from people outside of town. Of course a lot of help is also coming from outside of town.

There were 2 looters caught over the weekend by some residents. The residents duct taped them to a tree and called the police and told them where to find the looters. The police said they would try to "get over there when they got time, but not to expect them anytime soon."

Looters is ugly.

Sounds like they tried but were stopped. But, perhaps that was your point. Anyway, it's all yours.
