He was considered a 1st round player until a month ago and his combine did nothing to hurt him.

I find it more shocking he's dropped to a 70th-80th rated player on a few boards. He's a replica of Buckner and Jones coming out but he has been tagged similarly to Jones about being lazy and immature at times but I don't think that's the reason for the abrupt slide or at least to that extreme. His tape against LSU was up and down. He saw a lot of doubles but appeared to be pacing himself often midway through in 1-on-1 situations too. Hard to say.

Teams like the Bears, Seahawks, and Ravens probably wouldn't pass if he's there in the 2nd and I don't doubt SF looks hard at him at 31. I still consider him more of a fringe 1st guy than a fringe 2nd guy, but maybe I'm alone on it.

I haven’t seen Daniel Jeremiah, Matt Miller, the Draft Network guys, Dane Brugler, Lance Zierlein, etc. have Davis anywhere close to the 1st. Or even mention him as a potential 1st rounder.

In this draft, nothing would truly surprise me I guess, but I really don’t think he goes in the 1st.

I do agree that if he somehow were to end up in the 1st, it would be with the 49ers at 31 though.

I've never seen him in the 1st, I've seen him given to the Chiefs at the end of 2 a few times.

Ross Blacklock
Ezra Cleveland
Marlon Davidson

FWIW, Daniel Jeremiah mocked Blacklock to the Chiefs at 32.

Actually I think there's a good chance that Minnesota or SF pull that trigger. SF especially, they want to move down and he's a solid replacement for Buckner.

Hes drafted a 27 year old guard though.

Which led to his firing one year later.

I'm pretty sure he's learned from that mistake.

Very similar player to Buckner - wouldn't be surprised to see that at all.

If you had decided that you were just gonna let Jones play on the tag this year, that would be interesting.

Biggest surprise player in rd 1 was Darrell Taylor who was mocked to Seattle in Schrager’s mock. I actually really like him as a 2nd rd player. I think he’s going to be a productive player.

By all accounts, Jones won't be playing on the tag. He believes he's served his time, was asked to 'prove it', did so and deserves a long-term deal. And he can avoid holdout fines since he can just not sign the franchise tender.

If they can't get a deal done, they need to move him. If they can get one of those early 2s from the Colts and a 2 next year, that's probably light but tolerable.

It's time to shit or get off the pot with Chris Jones.

Doesn't the new CBA make holdouts less likely? I believe Jones won't get an accrued year of service time if he doesn't report to training camp.

He doesn't need an accrued year - he's already put in enough to be UFA eligible.

And he's not under contract if he doesn't sign the tender so he's not 'holding out'.

This is a different situation than the ones addressed by the CBA. There's nothing in the new CBA that further leverages guys into accepting the franchise tag.

Problem from Jones stand point is that refusing to sign the tender does not get him anywhere. He sort of ends up like Redskins Trent Willaims sits a whole year and gets no where. Does not even get the 16 million playing under the tender.

If he plays on the tender given the low number for DT compared to what he wants per season the Chiefs could easily tag him again.

But I think Veech gets something done prior to the July 15th deadline.

Daniel Jeremiah's board has a lot of wtf going on.

Jake Fromm and Jalen Hurts..come on.

What is the point?

If you want a a coach's pet just grab Peterman after the Raiders cut him again..and he is more experienced than Fromm.

This I definitely agree with. What the hell are we doing with him?

The Chiefs don't need to do anything until July 15th so there's no rush.

I find it hard to believe that the Chiefs will trade him tonight, especially to an AFC team. The dude has played lights out the past two seasons, was a huge part of the Chiefs going to the AFC Championship two years in a row and winning the Super Bowl.

I don't see how they can just walk away from him after his massive contributions, especially for a 2nd rounder or a 2nd/2nd.
