But they're about to absolutely crater out. I wouldn't be shocked if Donald and or Kupp end up elsewhere this year.

Timing couldn’t have been worse. Between changing of the guard (off loading huge contracts like Brees, Eli, etc…), lots of QBs on rookie contracts, rising salary cap… where in the past teams let Dan Snyder be Dan Snyder, instead teams had disposable payroll to match kroenkes spending blitz.

So that’s where I think we are. Agents think they can bully teams because they were getting blank checks, and there just isn’t the market to do that as much anymore. Especially as you move down the chain on positional value. The positive is that in future years you’d have to think we can go back to acquiring good players at way more reasonable prices

In the event he continues to sit out into November, I could see Veach thinking about using a designation to suspend him from the team for the rest of the season so he couldn't show up. That would be a hell of a bargaining chip.

I don't see him doing that. Veach is way too smart to pull a move that could potentially alienate the organization with other players. He's going to keep the professional route, and just stand firm with what they were trying to accomplish. If he's here use the asset.

Yeah, usually salaries go down....

Those days are over. Premium players cost premium prices. Same as it always was.

The Donald deal is just so ****ing dumb.

Plus what also adds to it being an outlier was he wasn't planning a holdout but flat out considering retirement because he was done with football once he got a ring. They gave him absurd money to keep him playing.

That's exactly what he should do, and I'd like to see it become S.O.P. for any player who sits out for multiple games. I get that star player are unique talents, but they are also employees, not management. **** with the people who write your checks, and you should expect negative consequences.

I mean, yeah, but there's no way in hell I'd say no to Chris showing up for another Super Bowl run.

Bait

Didn't he sign that contract after the SB win?

Right. A healthy Chris Jones shows up in Week 8? And instead of letting him play Veach suspends him? The whole city would riot. WTF are we even talking about?

LMAO

Yes, to keep him from retiring.

How many posts before someone jumps off the deep end in explaining that he'd rather lose the SB without Chris Jones than win it with him?

So you’d displace a player and potentially upsetting line chemistry to bring a guy back that’s ONLY there did a check because he has to report. If we’re cruising to another title run don’t rock the boat. Tell the clown his services are not needed at the moment, if something changes we’ll let you know.

If KC is in position to make a Super Bowl run in week 8, that's another reason to not let Jones off the hook.

O.city 09-05-2023 09:40 AM

Because they aren't going to cruise to a title without Jones.

No one would say that.
