I'm not trying to twist your words, man. You're being very un-Dude-like.

I feel for you. I really do. I have a couple of friends that are in the exact same situation.

However, it's not the fault of Mexicans here legally that you can't work the job you'd like. I don't have a problem with you being upset at the ones that are here illegally, either. I just don't think you should be tossing around phrases like "F the person of Hispanic heritages" so wantonly. Your situation sucks, but it's not an excuse for racism, IMO.

They do not take jobs we dont want, thats just the propaganda.

I completely agree with the propaganda statement, Mr. The Dude Abides. 100%. The lady who cleans my office suite has to work two jobs and combine them for a decent wage for much the same reason.

I thought that, after a time, those things were expunged from your record, I guess I was wrong. I sincerely wish there was something I could do for you, but my business isn't located there. Perhaps I'll think of something, though. Everyone deserves a chance to make a decent living.

You're both wrong and right. It depends entirely on which state you're in. The rights of felons, both working and voting and most (I think some Federal statutes exist, but I'm not 100% certain on that part) other privileges are entirely in the domain of each individual state.

Hmmm. It seems to me, Mr. Silock, that after 10 years and no further problems, a man shouldn't be precluded from work (in construction, for heaven's sake) based on a past crime. Especially if it wasn't a sex-related or violent offense.

That just doesn't feel right to me. Thanks for the information, by the way.

Thank you for understanding, Mr. Fax. I actually hired a lawyer for $500 and had my court date two weeks ago, but the judge and district attorney both denied my petition for expungment, on the basis that they didnt think I learned my lesson yet. Not even a speeding ticket in the last 7 years, but I guess I havent learned my lesson.

Hey, I whole-heartedly agree with you. It's silly to restrict the rights of people for things that affect them directly, like work and voting. You've either paid your debt to society, or you haven't.

The only part of his statement I have an issue with is the racism. Other than that, I'm totally with him.

Well, I look at it this way, Mr. The Dude Abides has been handed the shitty end of the flagpole and is probably a little upset by that fact. Ergo and therefore, his animosity towards the Crazy Puppy Farts who are virtually taking groceries out of his fridge is somewhat understandable.

I'm fairly certain that, if and when Mr. The Dude Abides' situation improves, so will his tolerance.

Problem with racism? I wish I lived in the Ivory Tower. Seriously, if left and right a certain type of people were making it increasing hard for you to provide for yourself, would you not be a little bitter? I'm white, and I get called names based on my race, thats just the nature of humans. Deal with it.

The Dude Abides 04-13-2007 11:17 PM

Once again, Mr. Fax, you impress me with you grasp of the situation, and I commend you for it. And with that, I am calling it a night.

Dude, I'm not judging you, but is it their fault that you're a felon? I don't know what you did, and it really doesn't matter to me. You've paid your debt, and I'm fine with that. But are you placing the blame correctly here?

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I hope so. Just my personal belief that that isn't the way it should be.

Ideally no. Still, we're all human, Mr. Silock.

Sometimes circumstances cause us to suppress our better nature. It's a natural reaction fostered by our survival instinct. Kind of like when one bad-ass monkey steals another monkey's banana. It's monkey war, man.

No, I agree with you. Perhaps I was overly harsh, perhaps not. In any case, his comments just struck me like a cheese grater to the brain stem.

Dude Abides, I do sincerely wish you the best and I hope everything works out for you.

You're an illegal alien.

Cope. I hate you entering my country ILLEGALY more than you hate the term. Stand in line like every other starving and suffering immigrant who wants out of their $#ithole country...
