Civilians cannot possibly understand the connection between maintaining grooming standards and maintaining standards for platoon maneuver when engaging the enemy on the asymmetric battlefield.
The sergeant addressed in the video (hollywood fabrication as it is) is in charge of 4 men, their weapons, equipment, accountability and actions on the battlefield. Leader failure to comply with basic standards sends a poor message (and potentially deadly) to junior Soldiers/Marines.
