You hit it on the head. Your children > 6000 students.

6000 must conform to your rule or they should leave.

You don't get it at all. I'm the one who has been dictated to - I've been told that if I want to bring my kids to the game and have a reasonable chance to deflect foul behavior and language, I have to SIT HERE. So I buy tickets and sit there with my kids with a reasonable expectation that I can watch a football game without having to subject my kids to certain behavior.
So, really, you have a problem with where they put the family zone? Like I said, talk to KU about it. I can tell you they won't get it stopped - at least not soon - so you'll have to stop coming out if it's that big a deal to you.

Damn, are you that dense? I'm not dragging my kids over to the student section to sit in puke and watch half-naked coeds have a three way with some guy that gets all the hot chicks because he has a motorcycle. I'M SITTING IN THE FAMILY ZONE. What part of that do you not understand?
What part of COLLEGE FOOTBALL do you not understand?

I understand you haven't presented any rules that govern what's acceptable in the family zone yet.

A "family zone" at a football game is a joke, anyway. You wasted your money.

If you don't like those horrible curse words, keep the kiddies at home. You have no right to dictate to others how to act in public. NONE.

Always jump to racism as a way to equivocate all speech exceptions.

There should be a law for that. Murphy and Poe have laws. Who else?

When you sit at home with members of your family, watching a KU away game, mom & dad, grampa & gramma hanging out, are you going to yell that to get their blood pumping and get in the spirit of the game?

Well... there's still a chance someone will Godwin the thread.

If it were just me, there wouldn't be an argument. The reality of it is that the majority want it to stop. 40000>6000. Those 40000 spend a lot more money on their tickets and donate more money to the program than those 6000. Somethings going to give, and right now it looks like I'm in the majority.

No problem yelling that in the spirit of the game. I think the only people who would object would be my aunt and uncle, because they, like you, think their kids are going to be innocent forever.

I knew there was one I was missing. How could I forget Godwin's Law.

Suggestions on the law I proposed?

Are you going to back this up or are you blabbing statistics to make it appear you are on the "right" side?

You know what the difference is between ticket holders and students? Ticket holders forgot what it was to be students.

We all define obscenity differently. We all have lines that we think shouldn't be crossed, whether it's a line of good taste, a line of morality, a line of acceptable behavior.

What will end up happening is that when they draw up plans for next years tickets, they'll reduce the number of tickets available to students, and that will continue until the chant stops. The real power lies with those that have the money, the alumni that want to bring their kids to their alma mater to enjoy a football game. Those seats are worth a lot of money, and the alumni will pay more for those seats than the students can.

I doubt it. The tickets are available to anyone who buys a student sports pass. They don't guarantee a seat, however. If they decrease the number, you'll see an increase in price. I guess that's fair if you try to legislate your morality on others.

I've seen it work. Wichita State had a similar issue when I went to school there. We'd yell all kinds of things, from the "We're gonna beat the hell out of you" to "Your momma's a dyke!". Funny how that all changed after Lew became the AD.

I'm not saying that the students shouldn't have fun at the game. I just think that particular chant is in bad taste and that it ought to be replaced. If you were in my situation, I'm sure you'd feel the same way. In these situations, the alumni usually win.

Perhaps. Again, I won't defend the classiness of the chant nor the maturity of it.

However, I will argue against what seems to be your "right" not to be offended by things said at an event you freely chose to go to. Don't expect everyone to behave how you parent your household.

What do you folks honestly expect in the bible belt? This wouldn't happen at one of them queer'd up universities out west.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-09-2008 09:27 PM

Braincase, if your kids have ever ridden a public school bus, they've heard far worse than anything you'll hear at a college football game.
