I'm off to bed, y'all.

I have an exam in the AM. Gotta get some sleep.

I'll update the board in the morning before class if there are any picks made tonight, and they'll be a lull in updates tomorrow from about 9-2.

The Franchise 03-02-2009 10:28 PM

Well.....the Bills just made this pick an easy one for the Broncos. I was going to take Maualuga to play inside in the Broncos 3-4 scheme but he's gone. Orakpo went at 10 and this is too high for Maybin to be my OLB. So I'll go with the next best thing.

Tyson Jackson, DE, Louisiana State University

With Jon Jansen and Chris Samuels nearing the end of their careers and the average age of the offensive line being 33 years old, the Washington Redskins look to the future and select

Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi

Great first day everyone! A special thanks to the top 4 teams for letting the top player on my board drop to me.

Direckshun 03-02-2009 11:24 PM

I have just scored a huge value pick, a player that I thought was an outside shot of a top 5 pick before the Combine, and has definitively been a top ten pick not just this year, but last year as well, for a position of extreme need on this hurting Saints D.

Jenkins projects. He projects as a bigger corner who can play with the possession types. He projects as a corner who can keep up with all but the speediest of speed demons. He even projects as a safety, making him one of the safest picks in the entire Draft. He's played at an elite level with an elite program whose prospects pan out far more often than they don't, Gholston be damned. And I NEVER let a poor Combine affect how I have felt about this player for two years.

The Saints get the stud they want. Vontae Davis was also an option here, but I think Jenkins is the safer pick for a team looking to get good on defense, and quick.

With the 14th pick in the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select CB Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State.

The Texans are on the clock.

Marco Polo 03-03-2009 12:12 AM

The Texans need to upgrade their talent on the defensive side of the ball. It was down to Vontae Davis or the current selection. Davis is a physical specimen, but raw. Texans are playing it safe with this one.

With the 15th pick in the NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select OLB Brian Cushing, USC.

The San Diego Super Chargers are on the clock.

Direction got a steal IMO with Jenkins and Texans got a solid football player with Cushing. Like the last two picks.

The Chargers select Andre Smith OT Alabama

Don't believe the silly season hype - the game tape don't lie. I think SD would be thrilled if this really happens in April.

bdeg 03-03-2009 12:22 AM

Agreed, he'd be great on the right side and that's exactly what SD needs. Agree with CC on the last couple too. Jenkins is perfect for NO and they'd be ecstatic to get him. The texans would probably like to add a pass rusher but can't be disappointed in Cushing.

I debated hard about Smith for the Bengals. When you watch him he is great, but for them with all the off field issues they have had with players it would be a tough pill to swallow IMO. Steal for the Chargers, the rich keep getting richer.

I am liking these middle round picks better than the top 5, especially for the situation the Chiefs are in now.

D, For what it's worth Jenkins was my pick @ 5 if Curry was gone.

Archie Bunker 03-03-2009 09:00 AM

The Jets select Darrius Heyward-Bey WR, Maryland

Mr. Flopnuts 03-03-2009 09:15 AM

The Bears select Aaron Maybin-DE-Penn State

This is a very big need for the Bears and Maybin fits the bill.

Sfeihc 03-03-2009 09:18 AM

Hamas and the Bucs are on the board.
My Top 5 BPAs
Freeman
Davis
Bomar
