The only position that is justified these days with the use of a top 5 pick is QB.

I believe Polamalu received an 11 mil signing bonus his last contract. If KC picks a saftey with a top 5 pick, that player will receive a signing bonus of at least 30 million. Almost 3x as much as the best safety in the NFL.

Probably not. One of the key sticking points in the new CBA negotiations is rookie salaries.

I missed this thread since I haven't been on here in awhile. Both players are awesome and I would love to have either roaming in our secondary, but if I had to choose I would have to take Eric Berry. While not as big and probably not as fast as Mays, he's the bigger playmaker between the two - think Ed Reed in the secondary. Dude looked dominant in today's UF - UT game.

Again, I am not going to argue vehemently in his favor over Mays because they are both studs, but in my eyes Berry is the better college player and will be the better pro player.

Yeah. At this point upside appears to be the biggest difference. And that's a whole 'nother debate as to who has more.

Berry was a stud in a losing effort today for the Vols. His pick of Tebow was one hell of a play. Also his play at or near the line of scrimmage was impressive. Loved seeing him drop his shoulder and go right at Tebow on the run. Mays is a very good player but at this point I like Berry's coverage and ball skills over Mays.

After watching the highlights of Tebow plow right through Berry, Im on the Mays bandwagon.

Berry had a hell of a game against Florida. 11 tackles, an INT and 2 passes broken up. That's pretty much everything you could want in a safety.

This is such a tough call and will be up to draft day. But as much as we might want one of them, the chances of Haley/Pioli taking them is very low. We can only hope sometimes.

We'll be up to our ass in (new)inferior O-linemen.

Im all for whatever help us win. Safeties, Guards, Nose tackles. I dont care, whatever brings us closer to being on top again for the first time in 40 years.

Next year is going to be hell if its uncapped. Most of the decent free agents are going to be RFA because they aren't 6 years vets. Which will make hitting on our draft picks even more important. I want a sure thing, and I think Mays is as sure-fire as it gets.

He said it all when he said "watched the highlights" if you actually watched that game, there's no way you don't come away from it very impressed by what Berry did in a BIG game for them.

I agree with you that he is probably the safer pick of the two, but Berry is a bigtime playmaker.....I'd be estatic if we can get either one.

Chiefnj2 09-21-2009 11:23 AM

He kind of stood and watched Demps run in the TD.

Sure-Oz 09-21-2009 11:30 AM

We would be great to have either one, berry impressed me in that game
