When are they going to get to the fried chicken and beer in the clubhouse?

If I am Clark Hunt, then I make damn sure that Pioli understands that he's done a crappy job of building a foundation for a front office, and that this next head coaching choice will likely be his last if it isn't correct. I also take more of a role in making sure the guy is the right fit for the organization you are trying to build.

To me, this sounds like things were allowed to spiral out of control in the organization. Pioli, again, after reading through War Room, I think he is a good talent evaluator, and he was real good at understanding what Belichick wanted and going out and finding those types of guys that the coach wanted. But I get the feeling that the guy is more comfortable scouting players and dealing with scouts than he is building an organization.

So I'll chalk this up to a rookie GM and a rookie owner not understanding right off the bat all the intricacies of building a winning organization. But they better not be making the same mistakes over again.

This is almost if not more bizzare than the whole thing in San Diego between Marty and Smith, except that one was public. Let's hope we do better than Norv...

@getnickwright if Weis washed his hands of Cassel, as @CharlesRobinson suggests, shouldn't that have put Weis at odds with Pioli?

@CharlesRobinson Charles Robinson
@Brent_A_Wood @getnickwright It put Pioli in a really awkward spot. He wanted to support both. That's partly why Weis "left". Wasn't "fired"

But, but, but...Haley ran him off?!?!

I can't believe they ran the whole organization into the ground over Matt ****ing Cassel...

Exactly. Who will not even be on the roster in a season or two...

Which is why the whole thing should be burned to the ground and started from scratch.

What a shitty, shitty decision.

The Patriot Way is one of the biggest farces in professional sports.

Holy shit.... We really might be getting a qb on the first round.

This.

Absolutely this. They ran it into the ground over a 7th round pick career backup quarterback.

Congrats.

Actually, it proves that Haley being a crybaby was inconsequential in the grand scheme of things because the ENTIRE ORGANIZATION is inept, top to bottom.

This. x 1000.

It always comes back to Cassel, doesn't it? There was a lot of professional pride put at stake acquiring and trying to fix Cassel. Haley's in the middle -- tries to improve the guy, but does he really want him? I'm guessing Weis wanted to draft a QB in 2010, and not even mess with Cassel after watching the tape.

It just shows how inept this organization is. They're like a bunch of kids on the playground arguing over a toy.

Who traded for and gave Cassel his contract? Pioli. All the way. RT @rumless: Who do you feel is more committed to Cassel: Haley or Pioli?

What a shitty, shitty decision.

Pioli's got one chance to make it right.

I applaud him for doing what needed to be done with Haley. It would have been easy to blame all this shit on injuries.
