Unless there is a real problem with Albert where they think he is done in a year I think we may end up seeing one of two things that have been discussed here previously play out: a) they take Geno and let him learn behind Alex Smith for a year so they can prep him as the starter in a subsequent season or b) they trade back with someone who wants to get Geno ahead of Jacksonville and we sink or swim with Alex Smith.

Its probably Floyd or Luke. Luke would give us the best O-Line tandem in the NFL imo maybe not the nfls opinion but Floyd would be a good compliment to Hali.
BUT if its Geno that would be pretty wild. It still wouldnt hurt too bad in now time and he could sit behind alex for a year or two and then get his starts and then if alex had been tearing it up and Geno came in and sucked we would just keep alex. If alex is truly a great QB there should be no problem with us drafting Geno and letting them compete for who is better. If Alex is better than Geno then yah we wasted the 1st overall pick, but still. You never know geno could be the answer but then again so could alex. We shall see. |

We don't need LUKE JOCKEL. Repeat after me we do not need Luke Jockel. We have one of the best tackle combos in the league right now. |

I think Reid and Dorsey are smart enough to realize that there are a number of guys in the first and second rounds that can start immediately and have an instant impact this year, so it would be foolish to take just one guy when they can have two or more. Especially with the Smith trade. |

If there was someone who was a world beater who also didn't have a heart about to explode or a spine about to snap it would be different. |

Why do you keep saying that when NONE Of our o-lineman were elected to the probowl as starters etc? :shake: |
A trade down is the most likely scenario but drafting Geno would be brilliant. I swear its all about getting great qb play and that would put pressure on Alex Smith to perform great and would highly increase our chances of having an elite Qb in the near future.

2012 $4,019,636 2013 $5,024,545 2014 $6,029,454 2015 $7,034,363 We could still realistically pay Alex Smith his contract for the next two years AND afford Geno Smith/Matt Barkley for the first two years of his contract. |
