Bullshit. Smith at worst is average. He was BY FAR our best corner last year. There were games I prayed they'd switch Smith and Flowers cause Flowers was getting burned while Smith was barely targetted.

Our secondary which was formidable just a few seasons ago has been nerfed into the Warfield/Bartee era.
:spock: What season is that? The highest our pass defense has been ranked is 11th since Brandon Flowers was drafted. Other than that, it's been below average.

Great another rebuild. That makes it what 3 in the last 5 years? This organization is huge POS top to bottom.

I prefer "transition". At least they're not scorching the earth. Did you not think they were going to come in here and make it their own?

We're not going to get any compensatory picks for him, either.

Wow.

And yet both Smith and Cooper performed a lot better than Flowers last year.

Cooper fell to pieces.

I'm tired of hearing about him.

And im sure Mike Catapano is in for a monster season and they shoulda started Powe next to Poe blah blah blah.

The point isn't that my list matters, but that I've actually seen the guys tape and have a valid argument that he's a potential upgrade.

Gaines is a 180lb scrawny CB that they expect to play man against 220lb+ wrs.

Yeah....im sure that's not going to be an uphill climb or anything.

Slot WRs are 220+ pounds?

Cooper and Smith can handle the perimeter with the improved safety play this year (it's already an improvement without the shit-stain Lewis back there). Parker can easily handle slot duties while Gaines works and develops as the 4th corner.

Gaines is skinny but he's still a physical guy. He'll be fine.

Guess we'll ignore the fact that Brandon Flowers is 5'9 187lbs huh?

Tape?

What his youtube highlights?

Yeah i've seen those too.

The biggest thing that stood out to me was that he doesn't look nearly as fast as what he timed.

Cooper fell to pieces so badly that they started him as the #3 corner in the playoff game and he played well. Yeeeaaaa. Also, there's no way he is going to get better, right? I mean, he's already been playing the CB position for what, 3 years now including last season? He's as good as he's ever going to be with that whole 2 years of college experience and 1 year of NFL experience playing the CB position. :thumb:

Cooper can't handle the perimeter. He proved that last season. He was good against QB's who telegraphed come back routes.

When a decent QB actually challenged him he went into Bartee mode. Have you forgotten how embarrassed he was?

Owens was brought in to cover the slot, not Gaines.
