Fosters is easily the worst beer I've ever tasted.

Austraillians look at pads and are like. "pads are for gurly men"
When in fact it is physically impossible for Rugby players to hit each other with that much force without them.
So they can never truly play full throttle......or they would have to keep a plastic surgeon in the training room.

Yes, the NFL players would dominate. They would probably need some time to absorb the rules and practice. Give them eight weeks of rugby practice at NFL Training Camp level and they would be capable of taking on any pro rugby team in the world. In fact I think you could make up a team of all RB's, TE's, LB's and DB's on just about any NFL pre-season roster and go from there.

There are quite a few QB's, WR's, Return Specialists, Kickers and Punters that would fit in easily as well.

Hey junior. I love nfl. Im on an nfl board. I dont think its soft and do not think rugby players are tougher. However to call proffesional athletes of a sport which is played internationally not athletic or not as athletic as nfl players is simply wrong. It goes both ways. Surely if gridiron players were soo superior then the US would have a team of cats offs that play and dominate at the international level. But they dont.

If you cant identify in your close minded brain that other sports outside of the nfl and the US have equally athletic proffesionals too then you are simply a fool.

Are you telling me that you think Rugby is pulling the same caliber of athletes as the NFL?

I agree that they're different sports and walking from one to another is unlikely because they're nuanced. That shit is already expected to be known at a pro level. Even NFL players would have to learn to play the game efficiently regardless of their natural ability.

Having said that... America has 15 times more people than Australia. As a matter of fact America has twice as many black people (who are, be honest, the best athletes) as Australia has total people in their country. Also, our country puts an almost ridiculous emphasis on athletics starting at a very young age.

There is a dramatic difference in terms of athletic ability to anyone being objective.

Could NFL players hold their own in a game of Rugby?

NFL athletes are among the best athletes on the planet, depending on how you classify athleticism I guess. Athleticism, to me, is the combination of strength, size, speed, agility, explosion, power, etc. I don't give a shit what Hootie says, NFL players are more athletic than NBA guys. They're stronger, faster, jump higher (look it up), etc. NBA players just have an easier time transitioning to football (specifically TE and WR) because it matches their size and skill set.

I'll admit I don't know shit about rugby but it seems like it's predicated on running around and being physical while using your hands to control the ball. Seems to me NFL guys could easily "hold their own" like the OP asked..

The NFL is a squared-up hit-you-in-the-mouth sport and you'd better be damn good, while Rugby is a game of "chase the guy with the ball until he laterals."

I agree but Kendrick Lewis would fail at Rugby.

Like "smear the queer"?

The premier NFL stars would burn out to fast to be any good. Bulking up on fast twitch muscles would turn you into a boat anchor in rugby. I'd rather see hockey players play rugby.

My son played football for years. Then decided to quit (pissed me off) and for fun joined a local Rugby club. His first game, on the kickoff, he shot like a missile down the field and hit the other kid solo tackle...game stopped, 20 minutes later the ambulance carried the other kid off the field. I remember thinking wow, that's a great hit. My son's coach on the other hand was livid, and told my son "This is NOT American football...we don't HIT, we TACKLE". I was like...wow. That's interesting.

NFL would rape Rugby. No two ways about it.
