4. Running over the catcher
5 Teams that clearly should be playing at the highest level, playing in the D league.

I admired a home run one time but only because I had never hit one that far before. the funny thing is that it would have been out of every park in topeka but we were playing on the shortest field in the city. but, when I say admired, that doesn't mean I stood there and watched it. It was more of a loud scream on my way to first. I was a little embarrassed but the team we were playing were really cool and understood why I was excited. LMAO

hell, I hit a pitcher one time in my life, unfortunately the pitcher was a female and I nailed her shoulder. I stopped running to first to check on her and declared myself out on my own. She couldn't finish the game but turned out OK when I checked on her at the following weeks game. The other team was really cool about it.

Of course, this was 22 years ago before the sport really got douchy.

This is the softball I remember and it was about same for me when I last played. Heck we did it for fun our work sponsored the team. We would work all day out in hot sun with the ticks and ivy sweating. Get back in the office end of day change into playing duds spray a lot of right guard on to cover the stench. Play the game and quaff a few beers after and head home. It was fun and kept us out trouble. This assclown stuff must have happened later in the sport.

As for the OP not trying to be an ass here but really you and 7 other guys road bikes up and played in boots leathers and all. Then you speak about douches in ball player uni's.
Seems like you guys did sorta the same thing.

I have rode bikes all my life mini bikes, trail bikes, motocross and road bikes. I learned that saddle bags and tie downs can haul most anything you need for a day ride. You couldn't have slipped a glove, tenny runners, shorts and kinda fit in? I never felt I had to look like what I wasn't and I wasnt in a MC. I ride for pleasure not for colors.

I've seen many females jack homeruns myself, I've seen women hit farther than I can.

Blue Valley recreation does the kickball leagues. I would much rather do that instead.

Yep, best part is our fields suck, dirt/rocks/etc. Not sure how that makes me a douche but whatever, it's my body. Starting to take it's toll now that I'm in my thirties, but I enjoy it and it doesn't effect anyone else so I dont see the problem, extra bases win games. I like winning.

That sounds fun, wish we had that up here.

I never knew there was such a thing but yeah. He had sponsors out the ass. One of his bats, (that a sponsor bought) was 700 bucks. It was made out of carbon and had some weird core that could actually shatter like glass if it was used incorrectly.
The dude was paid to travel on a team bus to go to tourneys all over the Midwest.
I thought that maybe it was fast pitch but apparently not.
These dudes didn't play on regular softball fields either. They were on regulation baseball diamonds.
Apparently the 'championship' tourney was played on a MLB field and they had tens of fans attend.

I played with this guy who was a total ringer for a few games. He played triple A ball for the Phillies and was a member of the Worth Softball sponsored team.

Ridiculous. I have no idea why that guy wasn't in MLB.

It would be sweet to live next to someone like Alex Gordon and have him play on your team just to really see what he could do to the ball.

Anyone ever played in a beer license league? I played in one in AZ one winter that was amazing. They had a bar stool set up at both 1st and 3rd base with a plastic cup of beer that was filled about 1/3 of the way full. To advance to 2nd or home, you had to first drink the beer. Hitting a double made you a real man. It was the most fun I've ever had on a diamond. Games were only 4 innings long and you were half tanked by the end.

A few of us started brew ball about 12-14 years ago, started out as a bunch of softball players that wanted more. No score, random teams, only rule is you need a beer at all times. Of course you can set it down to bat or while fielding. It's still going on to this day, I show up a few times a month just for the batting practice.

When I was in River Falls some years ago for TC I got invited to go to a softball game and was told to bring plenty of beer so a buddy and I picked up a couple of cases and went.

Everyone on the field had an open beer including the umps and every so often the ump would even call a timeout beer break.By the 5th inning the games had much hilarity.

Another thing I'll never understand:

"Hey, I got an idea: let's get sauced up in some dingy bar / the parking lot of a ballfield and then try and play the hot corner against a bunch of dudes who can crank a tossed softball 300 plus feet out of the park"

It's fun, about 10years ago our current governor (at the time) and his wife were walking by, we got the gov to grab a beer and play with us for a while.

I guess that could be considered douchy.

I was just ****ing around, dude. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
