#3 gets named IMO. LJ was awesome and I loved his fire and emotion, and I don't care about the rest of the bullshit.

I knew there would be a great deal of argument over Charles. I don't make my comments lightly.

He's a great back. Maybe the best Chiefs back ever. That includes Marcus Allen, Priest Holmes, Mike Garrett, Ed Podolak, Joe Delaney, Cakn Patna, the Nigerian Nightmare and others.

There's no doubt the guy is tough. He's proven that this year. He probably shouldn't have played at all today with his bad knee and ankle. He may still be concussed as well.

But there is something about great backs, where they show up in big games.

Franco Harris, Riggins, Czonka, Fauk, Emmit Smith, Tomlinson, Roger Craig, Beast Mode, these kind of guys came up HUGE in must win games, in playoff games, in Super Bowls. They shine on the biggest stage, at the most important times, in the most important games.

Let's review JC's rushing production in the crucial games this year: The loss to Tennessee, the loss to Oakland, and losses to Denver, Arizona and today:

Ten 26, KC 10
Charles 7 carries, 19 yards, 0 TDs

Oak 24, KC 20
Charles 19 carries 80 yards, 1 TD (pass reception)

Denver 29, KC 16
Charles 10 carries, 35 yards, 0 TDs.

Arizona 17, KC 14
Charles 10 carries, 91 yards, 1 TD
(63 yards on one carry)

Pittsburgh 20, KC 12
Charles 9 carries, 29 yards, 0 TDs

Hey, Derrick Thomas is a hall of famer. He was also guilty of disappearing in important games. He never had a memorable playoff game, and oftentimes when Marty and the Chiefs lost, it was in part due to DT disappearing. It was a rap that followed DT his whole career. He was a great individual player, he was not a difference maker in big money, important do or die games. That's just the truth.

Thanks George for the read. I always enjoy them. The one thing I can add is look at the QB's of them shinning running backs you listed. Montana, Aikman, Bradshaw, Warner, YOUNG etc. Now look at charles qb's. Cassel, Palko, Orton And smith. Those quarterbacks strike no fear to Defensive cordinators. Defense know to beat the Chiefs you stop Charles. I would love to see charles behind the line Emmit Smith had.

Horrible take on the defensive players especially Houston and the secondary guys. They played their asses off. That's a tough balanced team to defend.

GloryDayz 12-21-2014 10:39 PM

They just showed andy's presser again. "they will learn from this" . I suspect by March these 53 will be ready.

Demonpenz 12-21-2014 10:41 PM

JC makes something out of nothing so much. Not hating on the dude at all.

I agree. I really like our secondary other than Owens

Need some safety depth. I like Parker at S but not CB.

nice take, as always Mr. gbblowfish. The Chiefs are who I thought they were since they're last playoff win...........they are HARD to watch

Painful in fact

On that note, to be honest I'd be a liar if I said I didnt think Reid should've taken the three right before half... we get the ball next half only down 1.

What would Denver do?
What would Indy do?
What would NE do?

We need to do the same damn thing if we want to compete with those teams.

Going for it was a good move. You have to trust your team to be able to convert on 4th and inches.

Personally, I'd have liked to see a QB sneak but hindsight is 50/50.

Me too....QB sneak would of been the best call....
Running behind Fischer had fail written all over it.

Agreed. It would be different if we had a better line.

likenbach got lifted up and driven back for a sack today..harris whiffed badly on another sack given up...chiefs for most of season played essentially with 1 productive receiver on field (when Jenkins, Hammond are your 2nd receicvers it is not good--there has been noticeable improvement in last 3 games in yardage and pushing ball downfield with Wilson actually producing as 2nd wr, and avant being productive as 3rd receiver)

the Talking Can 12-22-2014 05:19 AM

charles produces more on a snap to snap basis than any chiefs player in my lifetime

playing behind perpetually bad OLs, and with 11 defenders focused on him at all times due to shitty QB play....he just happens to have one of the greatest yard per carry averages in nfl history, and makes game breaking plays with a regularity that obviously leads people to take him for granted

great RBs can't carry teams...only QBs can
