The only group with a comparable suicide rates are undiagnosed schizophrenics.

Not american slaves. Not concentration camped Jews. They're not killing themselves because 'oppression'. IF that were the case, why was the rate never that high among homosexuals? That is what not treating them has done.

A disproportionate number of trans people suffer from dissociative personality disorder. Who knows how many more are undiagnosed? It's obvious that for many of these people the issues are directly tired to mental health.

Not all, of course, but that should go without saying. It's obvious a huge chunk of this group is at high risk though, and society would be irresponsible to ignore it.

If people out there can say that's hateful, their ideology is bad.

I see this as top shelf attention whoring, by both parties. Nothing more.

I have no desire to see this. Know what I'm gonna do? Not buy it. But to the transgender people, he/she is an inspiration. Seeing a trans on the cover of a magazine is not going to cause normal folks to go get a sex change. What it might do is let these folks know that they are not alone, and maybe just maybe give them enough hope they don't off themselves because the world is full of people that don't understand them. You don't have to agree with them. You don't have to invite them over for dinner. Just try not to be such a prick about something you don't understand.

The world didn't need to know a dumb ex jock had half a gender surgery but media made damn sure the world knew. They made sure to give him an award.
They want the world to be influenced by it !!!!
They want you to think this dumb shit is important or acceptable.
Or you are a nazi, bigot, gay bashing terrorist if you dont!

This is rich.

I was more referring to the methods of "treatment" that have been offered in the past to people struggling with gender identity. Of course I am in favor of anyone legitimately suffering from mental illness to seek help or have it sought for them.

I do question any statistics regarding suicide rates since the nature of this issue pressures so many that deal with it to keep it a secret. I'd be happy to read a link to the study(ies) you're referencing to assuage my concerns.

This shouldn't be rep worthy, but it is. Why is this so difficult?

While I would like to agree with the sentiment, I think it's been demonstrated with the re-definition of marriage, that simple acceptance is not enough. Those who do not agree to such a definition, will be compelled to demonstrate their fealty or acceptance of this lifestyle in some form or fashion. I think the bathroom silliness is a major step in this direction. But yeah, just ignore it if you dont like it. The thought police will be around soon enough.

There is no such thing.

A man is born a man. A woman is born a woman.
Jenner isn't even trying to go full change. He's trying to validate
going half way.
Everyone just go out and be a gender pizza and call yourself what ever you want to believe you think you are.
The whole point on anything done on a national level is propaganda to see where they can push mislead fools to act out.
