I'm ecstatic if we're already seeing signs of Big Ben, McNabb, and Favre in Mahomes. But 2 of those guys have struggled to put together 16 game seasons and the third, Favre, was out of this world tough and hopped up on a million painkillers to get through it. I love his freelancing style but I also want the Chiefs to do everything in their power to reduce the amount of hits wherever possible. He took way more than he needed to yesterday.

I don't disagree with you but couldn't resist pointing out that using the Cal Ripken Jr of football as an example here maybe wasn't the best choice.

He was with the 1s on his first drive. The only 2 was Fulton at LG and I think he came in during Smith's last drive.

I don't really care about that. When he's out there even with a good offensive line, will he still take a lot of hits? As of right now, the answer is probably yes so it's not just the offensive line.

I would imagine that a quality clock-cleaning by a true NFL Linebacker will provide the proper motivation and incentive to explore greater usage of the pocket and less running.

I know enough to know that both Mahomes and CJ Beathard from SF both 2nd string QBs that both had 23 attempts in the last 2 games and that Beathard had almost 100 more yards in the same attempts as Mahomes, same 3 TD's thrown and a higher QB rating than Mahomes...

He came in in the 2nd and drove down the field against their 1's and scored. No one is putting him in the HOF, but the kid has the it factor which has us Chiefs fans very exited for what's to come. Mkay dumbass?

Only 4 of Mahomes' 14 passes were bubble screens. He didn't throw them "all day long." Mahomes has scored in 80% of his possessions this preseason. Beathard punted in something like 75-80% of his possessions.

I've been plenty realistic about Mahomes' performance. Introducing Beathard into the argument doesn't make any sense. There's excitement about Mahomes because his performance is backing up what all the NFL scouts were already saying. Beathard's been a pleasant surprise but because the scouting reports don't match the play, it's still an incredibly small sample size. Especially since he's had a ton of busted drives so far.

It's so funny seeing a Faiders fan come in here and try to tell us not to be so excited about our rookie QB. I sense fear.
