Defensively, Tampa is near elite. They have some excellent perimeter weapons on offense and an excellent head coach and defensive coordinator.

Their offensive line is their Achilles heel, although they have an opportunity to upgrade because they're picking early enough in Round 1. If they can come to terms with Shaq Barrett before July 15th, they'll have an opportunity to trade for some offensive lineman as well, maybe even Thuney.

They're close.

Their run defense was good, but their pass defense was pretty awful. And that’s a large part why their run defense was so good. Because passing on them was the way to score. Let them trot that shitty defense and porous o line out there with an old qb with limited mobility. I’m not worried about the Bucs.

The Bucs were an average defense the second half of the year. Barrett was a complete fluke, he won't get double digit sacks this upcoming season. The young DB's will ALL take a big step back from the end of the season. This Buccaneers team it anywhere close to being ready for a playoff run. Bad offense with an old rag armed QB, no running game, offensive line is shit, they have 2 legit weapons everyone else on the offense is crap and outside of Vita Vea they have nothing on the front 7. Devin White is fast, but is still too dumb to not blow every gap assignment in front of him, JPP is old and will come to halt here in 2020 and none of their DB's are good enough to make up for the linebackers sucking (except Lavonte David, he is a decent player). In other words the Buccaneers are as far off from the Superbowl as an 8-8/7-9 team can be.

Agreed

Brady throwing to Goodwin, Evan's, and Gronk is compelling. But it's got nothing on KC returning all it's fire power. Young fire power at that.

Pats had hilariously little leverage.

“If the Patriots wanted to play hardball, he could have signed his papers to unretire and eaten up $10 million against the Pats’ salary cap until a trade materialized. Gronk is due to earn a $9 million base salary, $250,000 offseason workout bonus and $750,000 in per-game roster bonuses in 2020.

That would have been problematic since the Patriots only have about $1 million in cap space....”

Buccs are legit. They're gonna get a ton of spotlight this year.

They can have the spotlight, but they are not gonna be hoisting the Lombardi. So who cares.

I would say that the Buccaneers are better than the Chiefs at WR and TE but far inferior at QB at this point, which is why they will struggle to get to 8 wins.

Nah.

That's probably an 11-5, NFL Divisional round team.

Depends how much COVID impacts the ability for the offense to gel.

Ehh Brady is going to hit a wall sometime around week 8 and he will be Manning at the end of his career. The difference is the Buccaneers don't have that defense.

Dayze 04-22-2020 06:48 AM

considering Brady can't throw the ball further than 8 yards now...

The warm weather will probably help him a little bit.

Please explain your reasoning.

They're #2 WR is better, the Hill Evans thing is I'm gonna say push, just completely different players but both dominant at what they do.

Their TE is not better, but now they basically have a backup TE that is starter quality so they don't have the elite guy that Kelce is but their depth is better.

Mile High Mania 04-22-2020 07:48 AM

Gronk will be good for a few games, but overall his production over the season and the consistency just won't be there. Selling tickets and hyping up the team, that's all this is right now.

Has anyone like BlackOp chimed in yet about how this is an NFL conspiracy and ultimate payback for Brady fighting through 2019, agreeing to allow the Chiefs to win it only to be paid back by going to another team in the NFC in 2020 and then walking away with a ring?

I'm sure the tinfoil crowd is working on this, yeah?

I’m not sold on the Tampa defense.

They allowed 449 points last year. Only 3 teams allowed more.

They had 47 sacks, which is pretty good. I doubt it’s sustainable for them though. 19.5 came from Shaq Barrett, whose previous career high was 5.5. 8.5 came from JPP, who’s is 31. Next highest was 6 and everyone else had 2.5 or less.

They allowed 270 passing yards per game, which was 3rd worst in the league. This might also explain some of the sack numbers. They were so bad against the pass that teams possibly threw more than usual. Despite teams throwing against them so much, they only managed 12 picks.

I get that throwing 30 picks hurts your defense. Brady won’t do that, but he also won’t throw for 5,000 yards either.

We saw how easily Mahomes shredded the Titans defense twice. Brady looked absolutely horrible against them. Yeah his weapons weren’t very good last year, but 20-37, 209 yards, and a pick 6? That’s horrible. When Mahomes has zero weapons and Kelce playing (probably hungover) against the Colts, he still managed 321 and a TD.

Tampa Bay needs a first round bye to be a contender. Otherwise, they have zero chance at a Super Bowl.
