Didn't he get a nice extension after Mahomes contract? Seems like he's been balling out regardless.

I get that he's playing for THE contract right now, but still, CJ doesn't seem like the type to turn it off after grabbing the bag.

I think Jonesy is all in on getting a gold jacket. If anything, I've seen MORE effort from him this season. I think maybe he's being honest and Cullen has pushed him to up his game.

If all that is true, perhaps he'll take a somewhat friendly extension so he can get more rings.

This is all true, he did NOT phone it in after getting paid... he clearly likes it here, and a 3-4 year deal should make financial sense when we let OBJ go

Jones clearly has that many prime years left, so build around him I say... we're in the prime super bowl window

I think I can be convinced to give him a big contract which is against my usual philosophy. You have to have one star and he seems to be pairing with Furious George well

After a couple of days I’m firmly in the tag and trade camp. Richard Seymour was 29 and the best DT in the league for several years and was dealt to the Raiders for 1st. Don’t know if the Chiefs could manage that, but I’d try.

The days of falling head over heels for our own players has ended. There is Pat and everybody else. I really think we have gotten the best Chris Jones has to offer.

What are you talking about?

He already got a big deal we're paying him like 25M this year lol. He's on the back end of a 4/80 million dollar with 60 guaranteed. How was his performance this year?

Hmmmm

Well let's trade everyone who has a big cap deal. I assume you're fine moving Kelce too?

We need some good players and vets on both sides of the ball as Mahomes doesn't play defense.

I think we can say with certainty that you're not getting Frank Clark or Dwayne Bowe with a big contract. Injuries could pop up, but he's been healthy up until today into his late 20s. I say pay the man.

Yes, trade everyone!! Putz.

Well. Kelce is like half of what Jones will get. Kelce has repeatedly taken less than market value to stay.

With the way the cap appears to be ready to skyrocket, we might be able to get an impact pass rushing defensive end in here within the next season or two if you don't have to worry about dancing around Jones' upcoming superstar deal.

Jones is Mahomes on defense for this team. We could benefit from Tyreek being traded because he wasn't Mahomes. There's nobody on this defense currently that could cover the loss of Jones as Mahomes did with the loss of Tyreek.

Yeah it seems like the Chiefs hold most of the cards here. If he'll extend for a team-friendly deal, great. If he wants the moon, let him play one more year on a contract year and you've probably gotten the best of his career. If some team offers a ridiculous haul, trade him.

This team needs to continue to improve the DLine. I can’t see how getting rid of Jones helps with that.

My fantasy is we somehow trade for Aaron Donald and have him and CJ on the same line. Imagine.

I don't care what it costs - that DLine would be a PROBLEM for every team we play.

Paying a non-QB $33M/year is team suicide, witness the LA Rams.
