It's entirely posssible that Hardman didn't want to come back.

Very true. I wonder why, though..

Always loved his potential but it just didn’t translate into production and I don’t think it ever will , Wilson is going to be a target hog and Lazard will get his , he is going to be a really one player on a lesser team , his next contract will be for less.

It is an interesting team to sign a one year deal with. He is going to be a punt returner and open the year at the 4th wr

Maybe because he was only getting 3-4 touches a game. And running 4-5 jet-sweep motions/orbitals a game. So running 4-5 25-yard windsprints per game to only get 3-4 touches. And several times he got fewer than that, in spite of the fact that he was catching the ball at about a 75% rate, he wasn't getting an increase in targets. Never going to get a big contract only touching the ball 3-4 times a game.

Jets traded Moore to the Browns.

Good riddance Hardman

Remember when this guy was drafted to replace Tyreek Hill?

smithandrew051 03-22-2023 03:29 PM

Pretty good day for the Jets.

Got the equivalent of a high third for turning Moore into Hardman.

WR room is a dumpster fire right now. For all the talk of all the WR's wanting to come here it sure doesn't look like it too much.

At some point that’s probably on him , 4 years in and I can’t really say he is that much better than he was as a rookie .

Hardman had his moments, including the KO return when we were down 24-0 to the Texans, but overall he was a big letdown frm what was expected.

He does have super speed on those jet sweeps and incredible acceleration that I will miss.

Looking more and more like the Jets are the team to challenge the Bengals for 2nd in the AFC.

If they get Rodgers and OBJ they’re winning that division IMO

Interesting.

Yeah also Hardman's tweet say "way "MORE than that!"
Is that a play on words that indicates the Jets are trading Moore and Mecole is taking his role?

I disagree. He did improve over his time in KC. His route tree expanded, he got better at his releases, he got better at improving when Pat scrambled, his catch rate improved by 10% from Year 1 to Year 4, and his scoring improved.

But his number of targets pretty much stayed the same.

Now, in 2022 it looked like he was going to be featured more, but injuries derailed that possibility. But in the 8 games he played, he showed that he could run more routes and that he could reliably find the soft spots in zone, and that he could make big catches in big moments, and that he could catch the ball under duress. Was he ever going to be the 2nd target behind Kelce? Probably not. But to say that he never got better as a WR just isn't the case.
