You don't need good QBs to put up stats. Gonzalez showed that, as did Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.

You need good QBs to win in the playoffs. Kelce wasn't winning playoff games until Mahomes showed up.

To your point, maxing out with mediocre Qbs at best and why I ask the question.
Eras? Nah, that happened long ago after Kellen Winslow in the late 70's early 80's when Kellen came on the scene and showed the league he was an actual wide receiver.

From that point on GM's and coaches started looking at the TE position much differently eventually looking for small forwards in basketball in the college ranks that had NBA talent that were very athletic with good hands and weren't afraid to take a hit.

Just saying.;)

Oh I agree with good QBing wins playoffs, but were talking just stats here.

Again, how much better would Johnson, Fitzgerald and Gonzo's stats been IF Pat were their QB?

"Denial" is very comfortable "for awhile" but eventually reality sets in. Just trying to prepare everyone "emotionally" for the same kind of game as 2wks ago because "divisional games" are always "different birds" and I expect our beloved SB Champs to take care of business like champions do. But they are human as well and this game has "trap" written all over it and very little about this game is motivating EXCEPT "home field advantage" which is HUGE !! So let's hope they are at least motivated for that aspect and they prove me wrong and win BIG.;)

Harlan is next to Jesus for me when broadcasting football games. I could watch the worst matchup of the worst 2 teams in the NFL and still want to watch IF Harlan is calling the game. He is "THAT GOOD" !!

Not much better honestly. Those guys already had monster stats. Not like Johnson would have 3,000 yards or Gonzalez 2,000 in a season with 150 receptions. The mediocre QBs tend to target these star players and avoid spreading the ball around.

To your point they had huge stats, but the real monster is Pat because he IS THAT MUCH BETTER than any QBs they had throwing to them and why he could have given them even larger stats is my point.

I also wonder if weak quarterbacks target the TE more because they're easier passes to throw.

In Mahomes' case, he's not using the TE as a TE. But other QBs will throw little short passes to the TEs.
