The NFL will make money in the short term because NBC is paying out the ass. If this were any ordinary playoff game... It's still ****ing stupid to the fan experience to do this but it would make money. I hate it but I get it.

Here we are talking about a game that can pull in an absurd amount of casual viewers. And they're restricting them from viewing it. It's dumb.

And pulling this bullshit is a big middle finger to all the low density areas that may not have good wifi let alone the means to pay for it.

Sorry, you will not convince me that pay per view for exciting playoff football is a better idea than offering to a mass audience.

I refuse to sign up for peacock just for one game. On game day we need to have a thread for good streams for those of us outside of KC.

Or is that wishful thinking and likely won’t happen?

Streams are unreliable. Just pay them their $5 and cancel after the 30 days. Or go out to your local chapter and hang out with your fellow Chief fans.

Just checked KCChiefs.com and they are listing the Sat. night game against the Dolphins already, and are NOT listing local broadcast, only Peacock and Radio......... that sucks!

I'm not a heavy user, since I have access to YouTubeTV , but want to say I've had to switch streams only once this season due to issues... and then sometimes issues with buffering, but these are also the non-primetime shitty games, so I might be understating it a little just because I don't care if I miss a few plays against the Pats or whatever.

mlyonsd 01-07-2024 10:47 PM

I guess 93 year old dad will have to listen to it on the radio. **** the NFL.

Kiimo 01-07-2024 10:57 PM

I work at Universal. Peacock is next door to my building. We're both under Comcast.

I work in Creative Advertising, I do campaigns for our films.

I can say that all season Universal execs have been frothing at the mouth at the idea of getting Taylor Swift exposure and we literally have a plan in place if the Chiefs make the AFC championship or not. Like, it's affecting which :30 spots from which movies we're placing. So it doesn't really surprise me that Peacock spent $110m on getting exclusive access. I'm not a huge fan of this but also Peacock is 6 bucks. You can sign up then cancel after a month.

It's not the $6.

If YouTubeTV let me sign up and and watch, one off for $15, I would grumble but do it.

But I am not getting my credit card out and registering for another site even if I can cancel two days later.

I will boycott watching the game.

And I can't remember the last chief's game, let alone Chief's playoff game I missed.

Well not counting meaningless games like the one today.

Or maybe swing by a restaurant and catch the second half depending on my mood.

But I don't really even want to support watching it a restaurant.
