I’m sure it’s closer to a 3 year $95M deal with some funny money attached to voidable years.

I could see a $50M signing bonus spread across those 5 seasons and then salaries of $10M, $15M, and $20M for cap hits of:

Y1: $20M
Y2: $25M
Y3: $30M

We’d eat $12M in 27 and $12M in 28 cap space if we don’t pay him crazy money then (which we won’t). Seems like a good deal all the way around.

The MINISTER of DEFENSE returns! God, I am so very happy right now! Hell yes! :thumb: 3 peat coming! :thumb:

Now focus on the offense in the free agency and draft! Brian Thomas or Xavier Worthy come on down!

So, if it's 5 years with 95 guaranteed and an AAV of 32 mil...you could have something that looks like this.

Year 1: 19 million signing + 8 salary
Year 2: 19 million signing + 9 salary
Year 3: 19 million signing + 10 salary
Year 4: 19 million signing + 16 salary
Year 5: 19 million signing +22 salary

Depending on how the cap increases and the market moves for DT, he could still be worth it in year four, but you never realize the last year of the deal.

Which is why I said nothing about cap hits.

The fifth year to me is going to be a mechanism just to keep the cap hit this year low so they can add whatever they want to go for the three-peat. (Based on Sweeney’s post that he has heard that’s their plan)

Shows players the Chiefs will take care of you if you do your part for them.

Chris definitely earned this and I’m happy for him.

might have missed a step or two last summer

The signing bonus isn't going to equal 95. The signing bonus plus years 1-3 is going to equal 95.

You mean like Sneed?

Maybe we can still keep him. Do it Vorch!

scho63 03-09-2024 10:49 PM

Does anyone think now that Jones signed Sneed may want to stay one more year?

Probably not but ya never know.

For those playing at home, that would look more like this:

year 1: 12M SB - 11M sal - 23M cap hit
year 2: 12M SB - 12M sal - 24M cap hit
year 3: 12M SB - 12M sal - 24M cap hit
year 4: 12M SB - one billion dollars (void) - 24M dead
year 5: 12M SB - taylor swift (void) - 12M dead

That's $60M signing bonus with $35M in guaranteed salary over the first 3 years, or 95M total paid with no cap hit over $24M in any year...

So, it's even more team friendly than my scenario.

Duncan Idaho the KCSN guys talked about your comment. Either that or you have an imposter in the KCSN discord.

Glad just got done right away instead of dragging out like last year. If it’s a choice between Jones and Sneed, I agree with most here that Jones is the answer. But it would be so great if we could still keep Sneed. If not, let’s hope we get good draft compensation And a free agent corner who comes cheap to earn a ring.

Now let’s see in free agency and the draft what we can do to add a third credible receiver.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 03-09-2024 11:00 PM

Watch us sign Sneed long term now 🤣

big nasty kcnut 03-09-2024 11:00 PM
