Kansas City Chiefs’ Rashee Rice suspected in connection with major accident in Dallas

A car registered to Rashee Rice was involved in a crash on North Central Expressway, law enforcement officials said.

Police are looking for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice in connection with a major accident Saturday evening in northeast Dallas, law enforcement officials confirmed to The Dallas Morning News.

A vehicle registered to Rice was involved in a crash on North Central Expressway about 6:20 p.m., officials told The News. The law enforcement officials said that police are looking for Rice, and a police call sheet obtained by The News confirmed that law enforcement officials were searching for him in connection with the accident.

His alleged involvement in the crash is unclear. A Dallas police spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rice was not appearing in Dallas County jail records as of about 12:40 a.m. on Sunday. It was not immediately clear if he is suspected of any charges or if anyone was injured in the crash.

Rice grew up in North Richland Hills and attended Richland High School, where he was a 3-star recruit before committing to SMU. There he became one of the most successful wide receivers in Mustangs history, fifth all-time in yards among SMU receivers.

He was a second-round draft pick in 2023 by the Kansas City Chiefs and almost immediately thrived with Patrick Mahomes and the eventual Super Bowl-champion Chiefs.

He was second among NFL rookie receivers in yards. In the Chiefs’ overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, Rashee caught six passes for 39 yards to help Kansas City to the title.

Before we jump off the ledge here:

Was anyone killed or even injured here? Was he driving the vehicle?

If the answer to those questions is no, then does anything really happen? Maybe a suspension? But that doesn’t seem like something to release a guy for.

I left the police department after the summer of 2020, but my roommate still works there. I had only bits of info as a result.

He’s not dead and nobody died. It’s the NFL. He might get suspended a game or so and that’s it. Moving on.

If he was not driving or in the car there is absolutely no criminal issue, at all.

But who loans their corvette to someone? Doubtful

Paniero said someone was seriously injured or killed and that Rice was intoxicated, left the scene and police were looking for him

This doesn’t sound good

Appreciate the info regardless.

Any insight into injury/fatality?

Or (hopefully) just a hit and run?
