In Pittsburgh we’ll have Humphreys and you’d think a much healthier mahomes versus a short week dinged up version of him. We very likely also get Hollywood in this game versus rushing him in versus Houston. I hate the idea of looking past a week but if there ever was one, it would be this game in the middle of a brutal scheduling stretch

He's not going to die on the field because he has a minor ankle sprain. He's played with worse and played well.

I'm not so sure he's not more dangerous when he's injured.

It seems like the people who think resting Mahomes right when Brown is ready to come back are the same people who think he’s had issues due to chemistry issues with receivers.

The last time he sprained his ankle he had 8 days rest, followed by 2 weeks rest. And he didn’t have to travel. This time around he has 6 days of rest including travel, then 5 days of rest including travel. So no this is not the same thing.

I do remember him playing through injury. I remember a few years ago where we went on a skid because mahomes was throwing every 4th quarter pass in the dirt before he finally had his knee popped. I know that mahomes had a brilliant . That knee pop may have saved our season because it gave Mahomes the long rest he needed on his ankle. I also remember he played brilliant but felt like 75% vs the bengals followed by a flawless performance in Philly when he had a chance to go through a very intensive rehab. He may play well during injury but he plays exceptionally well after rest.

It would be great if he had time to rest but he doesn't. All this hand wringing is pointless. He's going to play.

Reid said he could have gone back in the game...it's obviously not a severe ankle injury or he would have been back in the LR.

chiefzilla1501 12-16-2024 11:26 AM

Peoples memories are short because mahomes adrenaline rushed his way to a Super Bowl a few years ago. We conveniently forget the stretch of games a few years ago when we lost back to backs to Indy and Houston where he was extremely bothered by his ankle and we melted down in the second half because mahomes couldn’t push off his throws.

We will find out. Wentz is no Lamar Jackson himself. If the O-line is going to struggle, he has less mobility than Mahomes and less ability to make magical plays.

This was the highest paid O-line going into 2024. It's getting tiring having to talk about them every game. The highest paid line shouldn't be having all these adventures with blocking.

Dumbass Rex Ryan supports this. Should be all you need to know it's a bad idea.

I’ve noticed a trend that the people who’ve been saying we are like that Steelers team are supportive of us sitting him.

No, some of us recognize that he can’t throw deep to Hollywood and he’s not going to fix his accuracy issues if he can’t push off. And he’s not going to have time to throw to Hollywood with Humphreys likely out (if he isn’t… he needs to be DNP’d). Hes going to be even more frustrated when he has no time to throw, can’t escape the pocket, and can’t get in a rhythm. What do we actually think mahomes will fix under these circumstances?

Mahomes is the same guy who told the nfl to knock this shit off with short weeks because the body needs time to recover. Now we expect him to go through that same recovery for a significant injury? And now we expect Hollywood to make a 5 day turnaround after a full year of not playing football?

I hope you expect it because it's going to happen. He's not sitting out. The Chiefs aren't playing scared just because the fans want them to.

mr. tegu 12-16-2024 11:39 AM

Goodness. He doesn’t have a “significant injury.”

chiefzilla1501 12-16-2024 11:40 AM

I get that people want to get the bye early and give mahomes a few weeks to rest up. I’m not totally against the idea. But you’re really banking that 75% mahomes against Houston then 65% against Houston is gonna get that job done. As opposed to getting Mahomes closer to 80-90% for the Steelers. Because man, there just doesn’t seem to be any understanding of how damn hard that 5 day recovery is going to be in a likely freezing Pittsburgh game considering how much he will probably get knocked around by Houston.

LMAO

Did you just pull those percentages out of your ass? Oh why yes, yes you did.
