Ok but if they kept him this year and let him walk in FA they would have gotten a 3rd round comp pick next year right? As long as he doesn't retire.

This isn't the only assumption you're making here LMAO

He’ll be in the ring of honor. I’m at work, how many years was Joe here? He’s a warrior, arguably one of the most important pieces to this dynasty. Gonna miss you big guy, hope he plays at an all pro level next year.

Maybe I’m wishcasting, but does it seem like these three moves taken together add up?

1) Save $16 mil in cap space from Thuney
2) Save cap space by letting Reid walk
3) Move Kingsley to LT

=

Invest in a high priced LT? I don’t see what else the money could be used for other than maybe an edge rusher or a WR, but the latter seems out of step given we’ve got Worthy/Rice.

The chances of trading way up to get a LT in the draft are slim, so yes, a FA signing seems most likely.

What I am trying to say is if we kept him, win a SB and he rides off in the sunset with Kelce we don't get nothing from him. Outside of that happening and we just let him walk next offseason we would most likely get a 3rd round comp pick correct?

smithandrew051 03-05-2025 10:09 AM

The only way I’ll be disappointed in this is if Caliendo is the starter.

I just can’t see that happening though. I figure Veach would make a move for another guard or draft one if that is the plan.

Kingsley is my hope. Get immediate value out of that pick with a chance to develop into a tackle long term.

You're assuming that:

1. Thuney stays healthy.

2. Thuney doesn't fall off a cliff.

3. The Chiefs don't pay somebody next year that offsets the comp pick for Thuney.

They have an awful lot of holes to fill. They needed the money. Great player, sad to see him go, but it takes an entire team to keep winning.

Tells me they're signing Robinson.

Thuney could've been a big help if you're breaking in a new or inexperienced LT. But you can't have a green LT AND LG. And they know that.

There's only one fairly reliable LT on the market.

They're gonna sign Robinson.

Love the player but a trade would be good if the comp is adequate.

2026 4th round, guess it must be more about cap room.

Yeah. The 35.5 inch length is going to be too hard for Andy to turn down.

He’ll be the best fit at the position for this offense they’ve had since Fish. I’ll die on that hill probably somewhat lonely.

I just can't get there.

If I'm just looking at 2025, Travis' final year, OK sure, but I don't think he's a guy you are going feel good about paying what its going to cost in 2026, 2027, ect.
