The chiefs with a halftime lead. On the road. What happened. Oh yeah. CP is gone.

chiefbowe82 08-21-2009 07:24 PM

guys still learning their roles in the 3-4 and we need a new o-line which we've needed for the last 4 years the coaches have never bothered to mess with it all these years for whatever reason. other than that not a terrible half

007 08-21-2009 07:24 PM

I didn't get to watch much of the 1st qtr. How did Cassel look?

-King- 08-21-2009 07:24 PM

I was going to get mad at that last play...but I realized that we were just playing a basic prevent D.

Coaching staff is new this year.... dont think they were bothering with it last year.

petegz28 08-21-2009 07:25 PM

I give the 1st half a B-

our starters beat their starters

Sweet Daddy Hate 08-21-2009 07:26 PM

Solid... Unlike the O line.

Just Passin' By 08-21-2009 07:26 PM

Cassel looks good.

The left side of the line looks solid.

The backup RB should be good flashing out of the backfield.

The D-line is a work in progress, but there's definitely promise there.

I haven't seen Vrabel seeming to struggle.

Mays is still looking like a pleasant surprise.

It doesn't look like the breakdowns are coaching related, which is big for Haley

There are definitely some positives coming from the Chiefs' side of things.

Good to hear. I only got to see the TD pass to Bowe which wasn't great but a TD is a TD. Oh, and Bowe needs to follow through more with getting in the endzone. You never know when a ref will say something stupid.

ArrowheadHawk 08-21-2009 07:27 PM

So much for a QB controversy. What a joke.

Mr. Krab 08-21-2009 07:27 PM

Our D definitely has to sharpen up on it's coverage assignments. Not surprising since the big change was the front 7 scheme and they probably focused on that.

I'd give it at least a B, maybe a B+...

Supposedly, that's a pretty damned good team... and we're on the road. (And I was told the return of THE FAVRE made this a playoff enviroment.)

chiefbowe82 08-21-2009 07:28 PM

you can say Houston starters outplayed us last week cause their play calling was more creative, and you can say the same for KC tonight.

I would have to assume Favre looked like shit with only having 2 days to prepare.

Lzen 08-21-2009 07:29 PM

Cassel looked great.
Bowe looked really good.
Mike Brown sucks. What is it that they see in this guy?
Goff sucked.
Barry Richardson was not too shabby.
It was noticeable when Mayes went out.

stumppy 08-21-2009 07:29 PM

Considering where this team was at the end of last season .........I'm damn sure not disappointed with their play this 1st half. Would I like to see them clicking on all cylinders ? Hell yea, but that is a completely unrealistic expectation.
They've done alright for a work in progress.

supposedly they are favored to win their division and be a legit SB contender. If we can play like this against SB contenders this year than it's all good. Minnesota has a great DLine even without JA.

I agree on the B+, could have been a solid A if they had stopped that drive.

YUP! That guy is a playmaker and he is way faster than Belcher. He could have stopped more than a few plays.

And he had some very good blitzes. Even if Z.Thomas is back, I hope they keep Mays as the starter.

To be honest, we looked better than I was expecting. It was a definite major upgrade from last week. We actually looked decent on both sides of the ball. With that said, still way to many mental mistakes on both sides of the ball.

Once you step back and realize the situation... this is ONLY the 2nd Preseason game. Improving every week is all that matters at this moment.

Think that might have something to do with the sudden injury to Thomas. :fire:

Didn't think about that... didn't see Toomer, Bradley, or Lelie. Me thinks Croyle is going to have some weapons in the 2nd half if they play.
