Technically, every contract is voidable by the team.

Good point, maybe so.

Jesus all these FAs have huge signing bonuses that way their base is only like 1 mil. These fans on here need to chill

Nope. Lacanfora keeps doing that; he'll post the signing bonus and then the amount the guy gets in 2013.

His base salary in 2013 will be 800K plus the $3 million signing bonus = he gets $3.8 million in 2013.

You'll get no argument from me there.

Cutler's doucheface makes it impossible for people to objectively evaluate him. Rivers used to be the same way, but there's a chance that he actually does suck now.

Oh Rivers doucheface is bad too, but Cutler's is just a notch above all others. Part of it is that Cutler acts like an emo kid who just happened to grow big and tall and have a good arm. Luckily for him, he ended up playing NFL football. Coulda been all Linkin Park and razor blades to the inner thigh for him.

The Franchise 03-13-2013 09:19 PM

Pipe dream.

Trade for Alex Smith.
Sign Chase Daniel
Draft Geno Smith.

Either Alex or Chase is gone after this year. Chase's contract is basically a 1 year deal. He can be cut after this year if they deem Alex to be the better backup. Alex is cut or traded after this year if Chase learns the offense. Camp battle in 2014 between Geno and Alex/Chase.

Yes....I know.....I'm on drugs.

Come to think of it....oh dear. Nearly every successful QB has at least a mild case of douche face. I'm just that bitter at our QB situation for the past 4756 years that every QB that has some success I feel needs to be walloped with a scalding hot waffle iron about 170-somethin times.

QB Chase Daniel received three-year, $10 million deal from Chiefs. $3.33 million per year. Per source.

BossChief 03-14-2013 01:20 PM

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5170/chase-daniel

3/12/2013: Signed a three-year, $10 million contract. The deal contains $4.8 million guaranteed, including a $3 million signing bonus. Daniel's contract can void after any season in which he passes for 2,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. 2013: $800,000, 2014: $2.4 million, 2015: $3.8 million, 2016: Free Agent

The Franchise 03-14-2013 01:27 PM

So he still gets $3.8 million for 2013 correct?

This would have been a much better signing in my book. Hope I'm wrong. :(

Drew Stanton, who spent last season as a backup to Andrew Luck in Indianapolis, signed a three-year, $8.2-million contract Wednesday

You know, I keep seeing Stanton's name thrown around but the guy's been in the league since 2007 and hasn't done shit. Even with all of the times Stafford has been hurt, he hasn't played much (they normally went to Hill). Maybe he'll finally get his chance in Arizona but so far he seems like a "never was".

What I seem to remember is both Hill and Stanton got to play in that season and they both played well. Hill is not available so Stanton has been of my interest since that season.

Also you can argue what you argued about Chase Daniel, and Drew was cheaper.

ShowtimeSBMVP 03-19-2013 03:12 PM

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid on signing QB Chase Daniel:

"All you have his preseason film. You're looking at one of more of the productive quarterbacks in the preseason. He's a local kid. I had coached at the University of Missouri, so I kind of knew about him when he was coming out. (Saints HC) Sean Payton, who I'm friends with, thinks the world of him. And he got to play behind (QB) Drew Brees, so he understands what it takes to be champion at this level and to lead a football team." about a minute ago

Sweet Daddy Hate 03-19-2013 03:24 PM

Chase will probably never start but if he did, at least I could root for HIM.

After looking him up, i kinda like his potential... 72% and 4300 yards his senior year aint too shabby.

If Sean Payton and Andy Reid like him, he must've done something right.

This.

Chase is a good QB I think you'll be happy.

Plus he learned from one of the best.

Chase just needs playing time.

Drew just signed a new contract but he's probably going to retire after this one runs out.

It's time for Chase.

That would make sense and all if he had a chance to win the starting job in KC. But in case you missed it, thats already been guaranteed to Alex Smith.

Smith has an injury history.
And Reid may actually want to try something else after he has him throw the ball 30 plus times a game for a while.
We'll see I guess.
I'm betting Chase gets on the field at some point though.

BossChief 03-19-2013 05:49 PM

You know, there's an angle to the Daniels signing that has probably gone fairly undiscussed.

The fact that part of his contract talks were about Alex Smith NOT starting for a significant portion of time over the next two years. It's a 3 year deal, so that voidable part only comes into play the first two years.

That coupled with TBGs info that the team isn't talking to Alex about an extension means that the team doesnt even see Alex Smith as a cemented starter past the first year.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 03-19-2013 06:03 PM

Cocker spaniel Daniel will be ready when Alex becomes brittle in the cold.
