Yeah, but Harden didn't really have the shooting ability of Harden in college either. It's something that can be improved. Both were really good at getting to the line in the NCAA and contributed in several other areas which is why I think they were statistical comparables.

Quote:

Actually, his stats are pretty damn close to Derrick Rose. He's obviously not as quick as Rose, but I think he will be very good in the pros. He's flopping too much, but I ****ing love how Smart plays the game otherwise.

Here's Rose's stats:

and Smart's:

Yes, I think I like that comparison better.

Might have something to do with the fact they allowed 88 points.

The only game that Baylor has shown up for in 2 weeks was at KU. They look done.

We allowed 83 and still won.

Part of the reason they scored so much was bad shot selection by Smart. It doesn't go down in the book as a turnover, but it's essentially the same thing.

It was a bad game, but there are greater issues going on with Oklahoma State than a few bad shots by their best player.

You obviously love the guy, so whatever, but he's shooting 25% over the past 3 games and is 3/21 from 3... that's more than a few bad shots. Besides those mad skillz to get to the free throw line, he's been pretty awful offensively in their conferences losses, two of which were lost by a possession.

Their entire offense relies on his creation abilities. When his shots aren't falling, he's still routinely getting shots for other players (and also getting to the line at an incredible rate, he went 19 for 25 from there during the stretch you're referring to). So again, Marcus Smart is not the problem with OSU, he's the only thing keeping them in the top 25.

KC_Connection 01-28-2014 10:06 PM

Like most young teams, Kentucky still can't play on the road.

UK down five. 20 seconds left. They didn't foul. Just tried to trap and grab the ball for a tie up. LSU dribbled it out.

Chiefs Pantalones 01-28-2014 10:25 PM

In Calipari's first 3 seasons, UK was 49-15 away from Rupp. In the last year and a half, they're 7-15.

KC_Connection 01-28-2014 10:25 PM

I don't have a real problem with Calipari as I think he's pretty damn good at what he does, but that last play didn't make any sense.

Why he decided to bring up 40-0 in the pre-season with a team of freshmen, I'm also still not sure. Seems even more ridiculous in retrospect.

Chiefs Pantalones 01-28-2014 10:29 PM

Does Rust have any bold predictions for the game tonight?

I'm going, so I hope we beat their ass by 20. Though winning a close game is a much more likely scenario. I doubt they only hit 4 threes tonight.

Hahahahhaa.

It's from the movie Dune. That guy's name is Piter Devries. He is a Mentat, or a human computer (in the book, all computers that simulate human thought are banned, because of the near Terminator-like war with machines that we won).

He is about to drink the Juice of Sapho, which makes his brain capable of doing millions of computations per second, but also makes his lips stained purple.

LAWRENCE — The rosters for the McDonald’s All-American Game are officially out — and Kansas recruits will be included for the third straight year.

KU signees Cliff Alexander and Kelly Oubre were officially selected to the game on Wednesday night, burnishing their credentials as two of the top recruits in the country.

Alexander, a 6-foot-8 power forward at Curie High School in Chicago, and Oubre, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, will take part in the annual high school showcase April 2 in Chicago.

Kansas is still recruiting Myles Turner, a 6-foot-11 center from Euless, Texas, who was also selected to the McDonald’s roster. Kentucky and Duke led the way with four McDonald’s All-Americans each, while North Carolina had three.

KU coach Bill Self has now signed five McDonald’s All-Americans over the last three years — and 13 total since his arrival in Lawrence. (He also coached David Padgett and J.R. Giddens, two McDonald’s All-Americans who were recruited by Roy Williams but arrived at KU after Williams left for North Carolina.)

Bill Self’s McDonald’s All-Americans

Here is the list of McDonald’s All-Americans in the Self era:

2014: Cliff Alexander, Kelly Oubre

2013: Andrew Wiggins, Wayne Selden

2012: Perry Ellis

2010: Josh Selby

2009: Xavier Henry

2007: Cole Aldrich

2006: Sherron Collins, Darrell Arthur

2005: Julian Wright, Mario Chalmers, Micah Downs

I'm pretty confident that KU will win the 10th, but having said that I will be a little surprised if we don't drop one of our next two. Life on the road in the Big 12 is never easy even though KU has done a great job of making it look a lot easier than it is.

I understand your sketpticism, but this year's team is not the same. Last year's team overachieved. They were limited talent wise. This year's team has tons of talent. And that overcomes a lot of other deficiencies. But yeah, it is a marathon and not a sprint. Still, KU is now firmly in the driver's seat.

Yeah, they're gonna lose a few. As good as they may be, this league is too good for any team to go undefeated.

I'll guess they lose at Texas and at Okie State.

I wonder if we win the Michigan game if Self would of inserted Naadir in the game

There was a moment when Wiggins was going off last night, and he caught the ball at the perimeter. The defense immediately rotated to cover him, and he tossed it into Embiid.

You just felt ****ing bad for ISU. I mean... cover ONE superstar, maybe. But with them both playing up to their potential, what the hell is a team supposed to do to stop them?

The only team you can compare us to is the 2012 UK team with Anthony Davis. That's it. Period.
