It happened to some and because messages or emails to planet mods / admin were never answered, there was no way to come back legitimately. I don't know if that is not monitored or what.

Personally I lost access to my original name but no one answered a request for help and so I ended up taking a long vacation. I have never been banned.

But I also know my bro tried to sign up here more than once and the account was never approved.

Dartgod, DaFace, Bwana, TimBone are solid folks... Dont know much about Sauto and Bowser though...

But if they are as solid as the initial 4, then this place is in good hands...

ChiefsCoalition tried this several years ago on the main page (which linked to the forums). It didn't work because there were never consistent writers. You have to find a bunch of guys dedicated to writing regularly. Not a bad idea, but there has to be a level of commitment and writers for specific topic areas.

Here's the truth: I was actually nominated to be a mod. While I would have accepted if I had been selected, I didn't lobby for the gig.

It's one thing to be "controversial" as a forum member but something completely different as a mod. Considering the forum's attitude towards many of the former mods (who I think are all great people), selecting me as a mod at this point wouldn't have been the wisest decision.

I have total faith in the new Mod Squad and while everyone won't be happy with every decision, I think the moderation will be very fair.

No problems with anyone individually. I just don't think it was monitored and the emails/messages should be checked, that's all.
