That's not true, it's why the defense with a big lead is so much worse than when it's close.

They go into a drop zone type of defense meanwhile we have several dudes, mainly Eric Murray who a 2nd grader understands zone better than.

He has every right to be pissed at them, they aren't paying them when they have a shitload of money so he feels slighted.

Sure, but my point is that he might be willing to play elsewhere without a new deal for that very reason, whether he's right to feel that way or not.

That and apparently he took a lesser deal so that the LOB could all get deals. Now they’re all gone.

Pretty sure he did because if you look at safety contracts, he's underpaid.

Missing two practices during game week w/o explanation & asking another team to trade for you is certainly NOT being a "team player". I do hear he's a wiz with pivot tables and VBA.

If the Chiefs do well in the next 3 weeks against the Broncos on the road, Jags at home and Patriots on the road, why not just wait for Berry and Sorenson?

Peter Schrager was at Arrowhead and mentioned that Sorenson was one of our smartest players.

It’s hard to see Veach giving up much for Earl Thomas when his entire philosophy all Spring was to get young players.

Hey now, we don't know what sort of shit Clark had to go through to get where he is today. The early mornings, the late nights, the being blown out of his dad's dickhole.

Every time Pat throws a nasty TD pass, the first thing I do is thank Clark for giving him the ability to play this game. Only makes sense.

You're right. If we really deserved to be as rich as Clark Hunt, we would have figured out a way to swim around in Lamar Hunt's ballsack 54 years ago

carcosa 09-24-2018 10:54 AM

Hate to break this to you, srvy: no matter how much money you've already invested in bootstraps, you're never going to become a billionaire yourself. They will not let you into their club. Pretty soon we're gonna be able to time travel. So I know I'll be able to get back to 1964 or whatever. Hopefully they'll have some ballsack implantation technology by then too, so I can Rick Moranis myself right into Lamar's beanbag! Being a billionaire is gonna be so sweet.

Veach also had this mentality BEFORE Mahomes was setting the NFL on fire. He also didn't know Berry wouldn't be able to play/DS would break his leg...or the defense would be giving up 500 yards a game.

The old guard of the AFC seems to be finally hitting the wall....and appears ripe for the taking.

I'm all about playing the long game...but I'm also aware about being opportunistic if the situation calls for it. This might one of them...KC could go the the SB THIS year and it inst a pipe dream.

KC's contractual window is around 3 years...give or take. There is no guarantee that Mahomes stays healthy for that duration either..

It's really weird to me to see some posters taking an approach of what we'll be in 4 years when our window is wide open right now and most of us are to young to have ever even seen this team in a bowl.

That is a really strange stance honestly.

KC's saftey play IS the major reason they look terrible... and there is a multiple all-pro just sitting there. He's arguably better than Berry...and most importantly, healthy.

Mecca 09-24-2018 11:47 AM

I also don't see anything Thomas has ever done to say he won't play when he gets paid. The dude just wants to feel like he's wanted and he thinks they are trying to dick him over, you'd be mad in his spot too.

Brady looks like he’s declining, the Steelers are done and Jags have Bortles.

The opening for this team isn’t 4 years. It’s as long as Andy and Mahomes are here, which IMO could be 10 years

Not expecting it but they obviously are playing different schemes when they are way out in front.

In reality you should be playing a lot of 3 deep zone when you're winning 35-10 problem is we have several guys who suck balls at zone coverage.

This defense would improve if we had less talented guys with brains in their heads at the moment, at least in the secondary.

They're already better in man coverage. What they need is better zone awareness. A trained monkey has a higher football IQ than Murray.

And that confidence gets pushed out to the rest of this defense as well. The ILBs are more confident because they know they have Thomas and Berry behind them. The defensive line....same thing.

Lots of ifs...but that would be the best safety combo in modern NFL history. TEs might as well stay in and block..

I get that he wouldn't say much on the subject but to say "that's not where were at" kind of writes it on the wall. They aren't gonna sign him.

On the other hand he could just say that to stick up for the D and then when we do sign him he can say "thats on Veach" so he doesn't have to look like an asshole to his players.

That is a joke Sorenson is a role player...if he would come back and O'Daniel would develop you might sell me that the short zones in passing downs will improve but deep safety won't.

BlackOp 09-24-2018 12:14 PM

Would be nice if Berry would give them some cap relief to make this happen. Counting the post-season, the Denver game will his 20th consecutive game check without playing a single snap...on his new contract. He's played 3/4th of one game since signing.

At least he's on the play and it took a good throw to beat him. Murray ****s the most basic fundamentals up over and over.

BlackOp 09-24-2018 12:27 PM

At some point..this cat-n-mouse approach to Berry's health has to end.

Yeah...we all want him back but its going on 20 games now. If and when he reutrns...how good/durable is he going to be after long-term Chemo effects/repaired ACLs, torn Achilies and a chronic heel condition?

Chiefs need to roll the dice on Thomas...if Berry ever returns to form (which I highly doubt) then KC has an all world tandem for a few years. If he never regains his previous form...come to an injury settlement.

Chiefs can NOT continue to give up 500 yards on defense....

pugsnotdrugs19 09-24-2018 12:27 PM

I know it isn’t a simple operation to trade for and extend the guy but they should definitely be exploring it.

If you have Berry out there you can shut the TEs down. If Thomas is deep, he’s going to cover up a lot down the field. That combination would bring a lot to the table for a team that is going to have to protect leads.

Mecca 09-24-2018 12:28 PM

That's another thing if Berry is just not gonna be able to play...come to a settlement and replace him with Thomas.

Like I said I have no question that Thomas will still be a productive player when Berry's career is over.

Imon Yourside 09-24-2018 12:31 PM
