The ONLY team to get swept out of the first round.

I will believe it if they beat the Bucks. I don't think that is going to happen though unfortunately. I really like the makeup of this team and they are easy to root for.

Not sure anyone in the NBA will beat the Bucks.

KC_Connection 04-25-2022 08:28 PM

Well I did not expect to be going to another playoff game this week. I know he's got the thumb issue, but absolutely bizarrely soft/fatigued performance from Embiid the last two games.

Good ****ing Lord Simmons is a bitch.

Sunday’s events triggered frustration and disheartenment throughout the organization, multiple sources said. The fallout of Simmons being ruled out Sunday led to a meeting among franchise officials, Simmons and his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, on Monday in Brooklyn. According to sources, Simmons told those in the room that a mental block exists for him, dating in part to last summer’s postseason, which is creating stress that could serve as a trigger point for his back issues. He added that he does want to play basketball and play for the Nets as he works on solutions in regard to his well-being

Simmons had been described as pain-free for the majority of the past month but began to cite soreness in his back on Friday, and a scheduled scrimmage was pushed back, multiple sources said. Simmons conducted two full-court scrimmages last week on Monday and Wednesday, in which there was low intensity displayed, those sources said. Throughout Simmons’ rehab, both Durant and Irving, for their part, publicly downplayed their expectations for a Simmons return and said the goal is to get him healthy.

Simmons had another workout on Saturday, after which Nash said Simmons had no issues. On Sunday, Simmons informed the team his back was sore. For Nets players, the confusion was not centered around Simmons’ ailment, but with the perceived lack of attempt to play, effort to be in uniform and push his body in these high-stakes playoffs, sources said. Nets players and coaches wanted to see Simmons show resolve and enter this series to start his on-court Brooklyn tenure, even if it was for limited minutes on Monday or none at all while still dressing for the game.

Pitt Gorilla 04-26-2022 02:21 PM

Absolutely LOVE watching the Pelicans play basketball. Ingram is a great scorer and 2nd round rookie Jones and UDFA Alvarado are supplying athleticism and defense.

Willie Green should probably be Coach of the Year with what this team is doing, but Taylor Jenkins is a good choice as well.

76ers didn't pay him $20M of that and I'd be surprised if an arbitrator awarded him that money no matter what he argues about mental/physical health.

Great to see the Wolves not even bothering to show up tonight. I suppose if your strategy involves Pat Bev shooting 3s, you're bound to lose anyway, but this really sucks.

That last shot by him was dumb founding. I also don't understand the Twolves offense where Towns is camping at the 3 pt line. I mean he is the center and they have no rebounding option but have him camping out there.

To be fair he is the NBA 3 point contest winner so it’s not like he can’t shoot. I get way more upset with Jaren Jackson doing the same thing when he is not nearly as consistent as Towns. It’s just the style of todays game. Isolation offense and relying on 3 pointers.

Yeah I realize that he is a very good shooter and want the spacing but him camping out there and then another player chucks a 3, they are one and done alot of the time.

He's also kind of putting a lid on the advantage he has of being a stretch 5. The idea is you're a big who can shoot threes, not a 3-point shooter who happens to be big. NBA 3-point champion or not, he still has a job to do in the paint if we want things to be more effective. I get that Memphis is doing an incredible job at shutting our post stuff down, but we're just flat out giving up. Because when Naz Reid comes in when Towns needs to rest, it becomes stupidly obvious to the Grizzlies how to defend us, and then we resort to dudes like D'Lo who play like 2021-22 Russell Westbrook.

Ja Morant is easy to root for… a guy who was minimally recruited out of high school, built up his draft stock at a mid-major and is now a franchise caliber superstar.

Compare that to fatass brokedick Zion who was anointed as the next LeBron in high school, continued the hype train treatment at Duke and has been a fat failure in the NBA.

Russell plays so badly/stupidly most of the time. Then, he'll have games where he understands how to facilitate, but those are too few and far in-between.

It was interesting the other night how he completely got into Chris Paul's head (didn't pay much attention to last night's game).

Being a hockey fan, I'm always a bit weary when people say someone is high energy/gritty and maybe even a bit obnoxious, especially in the playoffs when the refs swallow their whistles..... I felt like there was at least one moment like that the other night where maybe the ref swallowed their whistle while they were playing right on that edge.

I think as long as the refs call it by the book, it's definitely fun to watch (and like I said, there was really only one or maybe two plays that made me wonder a bit).

Sucks when players stoop to a complete lack of integrity though where refs have to question the inadvertent elbow or nut kick jump shot.... it's how you get zero tolerance rules with zero leniency for accidental behavior.

Jazz/Mavs was practically a CBB game down the stretch... NBA players usually get away with such shit shot selection and fade away jumpers from just inside the arc because they can make those dumb shots.

When they aren't falling though, it's kind of brutal.

He was waiting until Nurse pulled his own starters but he shouldn’t have been.

It's a shame because he is such a great player when he is healthy.

POND_OF_RED 04-30-2022 07:58 AM

The Grizzlies have to come out and play a full 48 against the Warriors. I’m a little worried by the perimeter defense going against the Splash brothers, but the Warriors won’t be able to shut down Ja driving to the basket as much as the T-Wolves did. It will help getting Steven Adams back when he clears Covid protocols. The Warriors don’t have a stretch 5 like Towns that forces Jenkins hand to keep him on the bench for his slowness on defense. I think Adams opens up so much of the offense for Ja with his pick and rolls. Should be a really fun showdown between Curry and Morant.

Draymond Green just got ejected for a flagrant 2. Time for Memphis to take over and just dominate in the paint this second half. They already had the advantage down low, but now they should be able to run away with it hopefully.

Ja is enjoying not having to match up against that Minnesota D anymore.

Sassy Squatch 05-01-2022 03:28 PM

What the hell was Green even doing? Slaps the dude, yanks him down by the jersey, then runs around like he's Antonio Brown.

jettio 05-01-2022 03:38 PM

So I missed the first half and then the halftime crew is saying that Green should not have been ejected.

Then I see the play and it is completely understandable that a flagrant 2 is called.

I think ESPN announcers defer to Clutch Sports clients like they are afraid to criticize or to not defend them.

**** YEAH

Great win

KC_Connection 05-01-2022 04:33 PM

If Memphis can’t win that game at home without Draymond in, I could see them getting swept. Just way too inexperienced ultimately.

Sassy Squatch 05-01-2022 04:34 PM

Probably aren't even going to win one.

You can’t do what Draymond did to a guy in the air in the NBA. Was it flagrant 2 worthy? Debatable but this guy has a history of this kind of shit so I don’t blame the refs at all.

Bucks/Heat

Warriors/Suns

Memphis needs to stop letting the other teams dictate how they play. They are not a 3 point shooting team. They for some reason just went away from slashing to the basket. Brooks is needed on the defensive end, but he can kill the offensive momentum if his shot is not going. He’s completely streaky. I think getting our centers back and being able to control the flow of the game a little more by controlling the paint will help a lot. Looks like it’s going to be a great series.

Healthy Suns and healthy Bucks are the only teams that can beat the Warriors right now IMO so that's who I'm rooting for.

Great game. Memphis defense in the last couple minutes was sad. Just leaving guys open under the basket.

Hoping for a good series but they looked a bit tired and outmatched.

What a night for Ja! We got a series!

I'm pulling for Memphis but I have a hard time seeing them winning this series. Curry and Klay were cold from three and Morant needed to put up almost 50 to win a close one at home.

dirk digler 05-04-2022 07:13 AM

Dillion Brooks should be and I expect to suspended. That was one of the dirtiest plays I have seen in years. GP3 has a fractured elbow is done for the year.

Let’s hope so. As a Grizz fan it was nice to not have him on the offensive end screwing up the momentum this game. It let Ja just be Ja and the results were nice to see. GP3 will have to wise up and learn how to fall in the NBA. That injury isn’t on Brooks. Most people are smart enough to know not to try and catch themselves with their arm nowadays. Kerr’s comments about it are hilarious. If he really cared about the “code” of basketball Draymond Green wouldn’t be on his team. No one is feeling sorry for the dirty Warriors.
