Love this signing. I wish it was for more than one year. I’m not counting on Gordon being a factor but if a full offseason and camp gets him able to be a contributor then look out. I am not counting on him though and would draft a WR fairly early.

chiefzilla1501 03-19-2022 08:16 AM

I know people hate to hear it, but if we can get Sammy Watkins for cheap and shelve him for much of the year we’d have a tremendous WRs corp. Pick him up and draft a young gun, knowing that Reid’s offense will take some time to get down.

The real interesting thing about mahomes contract is that it’s basically adjusted for inflation. Anytime the chiefs think he’s underpaid they can basically convert his salary into bonus. It’s really no different than offering a 6-year % annual pay raise. Hell, if they took the inflation this year he’s STILL a bargain.

Still, I’d rather we not use this card every year. The more we can pay off his base salary without turning to bonus the better. If we do this every year it adds up very fast

Without Juju on the books yet, the Chiefs are over the cap. Gotta do something

Yeah, if we can land an impact WR in the first 105 picks then this is a much improved WR room.

That would give us 4 impact players at the position. Hardman was much better at the end of the season, even if he isn’t exactly what we want in a WR.

Grab a RB in the mid rounds and maybe a RT somewhat early.

The offense will be damn good. Maybe the best total cast Mahomes has had so far.

Just saying if he can get back to what he once was.

RunKC 03-19-2022 09:15 AM

The empty sets with Reek, Kelce, Hardman and Juju are going to be so sexy.

Contract year Juju and contract year Hardman are excellent chess pieces when teams try to take away Kelce and Reek.

Justin Reid (hes not that good. . I know we all watched his best plays from 4 years piled nto a 2 minute clip and got hard but he averages 1.5 int a year. and has dissapeared for 2 years)

Now bringing in a guy who put his personal agenda before team that year scares me a bit. . but usuallly people come to KC and fit in to the culture

but im not stupid..i see the huge upside of Juju and that deal is incentive heavy..so thats good to see

Justin Reid, by all accounts, isn’t just replacing Tyrann as our top safety. He’s also a leader.

And to be honest, he might be better in that role, as he’s not prone to emotional outbursts like Tyrann.

Hoover 03-19-2022 09:31 AM

Tyrann was a little bit of a drama Queen and distraction last season.

And where was he in the playoffs? Love the dude, but glad we are paying him for what he was

Kiimo 03-19-2022 09:38 AM

I didn't mind him being a drama queen I minded him making business decisions in regards to tackling which as it turns out is a pretty key aspect of a good defensive player in the NFL

Thats awesome! Veach is a freaking genius. Its this kind of thinking that allows him to make the moves he does.

If you look at the FA signings so far, Veach is the only GM that has somehow managed to get great deals for the franchise, this early.

Almost every other GM has overpaid. Jags are the worst.

Kiimo 03-19-2022 10:24 AM

Building your team from free agents is the game of overpaying.

I mean, the Jags paid Christian Kirk 72 million ****ing dollars.

Christian Kirk!!

Dude never has never reached 900 yards in a season

BossChief 03-19-2022 10:31 AM

How is it possible that Christian Kirk is simultaneously one of the most underrated and overpaid players in football?

I guess it’s proof that all it takes is one GM to fall in love with you.

Tyrann was absolutely a leader. Let's not start talking crazy just because he's gone. He has to be one of the best leaders in the league. Guys love playing with him and the number of guys that brought him up as a reason why they were excited to play for this D is astonishing.

If this is true, it means Brett Veach got JuJu for half the cap hit this year of what the Bears are paying Byron Pringle.

There is no misspelling of his name extreme enough to indicate how great that is.

The same people who say that shit will freak out if OBJ ends up with another AFC West team.

Bring in good players. Trust Mahomes and Reid as leaders.

Brady was able to keep Antonio Brown in line long enough to win a title. Mahomes can do the same.

If we get any other receiver I wouldn’t mind Sammy. You get him for a similar type of contract as Juju and he’s your 4th receiver. A true luxury that if he got hurt and missed time wouldn’t cripple us in any way.

I’ve been thinking about this as well… for WR depth you could do worse than Sammy Watkins if the price is right.

And I'd honestly be fine with giving him limited snaps until late season/playoffs just to keep him preserved for when the stakes are high

He knows the system and fits in well with the team...

An empty backfield set of Hill, Kelce, JuJu, Hardman, and Watkins would be tough to cover....

At the right cap price I would be for it.

RunKC 03-19-2022 02:41 PM

Sammy had a cap hit of $5 million for the Ravens. I’d love to get the guy for a $3 million cap hit which can reach $5 million through incentives. Let him sit longer and I bet he’d love to come back.

It would be an enormous upgrade. Juju and Watkins>>>Pringle and Robinson

I really think this year it is truly "the best player available" at DE,CB,WR and RT in the first 3 rounds. It could go either way with the first pick with DE,CB and WR.

Now with that said, IF they don't get their guy at DE at 30 they may go CB since DE's are deep this year. IF DE,CB and WR aren't there that they like at 30 they trade down IF they can.

Will be a fun draft IMHO this year.

BossChief 03-19-2022 03:19 PM

If Juju can give us a 76% catch rate (like he had in 2020), Pat will feed him a ton of passes and have all the trust in Juju.

Juju bet on himself to do exactly that.

I still think this is the most underrated signing of the entire free agency. Still only 25 years old, I firmly believe his best years are right now. The Steelers have been a dumpster fire for a while now, so I’m not surprised his production declined but if you look closely, when he was playing and Big Ben managed to get a ball to him, he produced. I’m insanely excited about this signing

Not sure what he's complaining about... in 3 seasons his RECs have gone up while his TDs have dropped and the yards are about a 100 yards different. JAG ... fast JAG, but a JAG.
