Joplin ought to put these folks in stocks outside the High School. Some 1680's justice is just the ticket. Looting -especially when you travel to loot- should be a major felony...big time in the big house.

At the very least, they ought to make these folks do community service until the WHOLE TOWN is cleaned up.

That's heartwarming right there............

From the stories that I've heard. They're not being treated well upon capture. There's apparently a lot of "resisting arrest" going on. One story I heard involved a couple of guys getting tazed, then beat up, then maced, then taken to jail. I was told they'll never loot again.

Sometimes I wish that our legal system was a little less civil. Those people should be put in stocks and forced to endure a week of public humiliation. And by "public humiliation," I mean anything that doesn't cause permanent injury is just fine.

I am fairly sure when they go in front of a judge or jury it will not be good for them.
If anything warrants max sentencing, this does.

A little permanent injury would be okay. I think public flogging would be a really effective deterrent.

Looters suck.

Still, I have to admit that, when the Katrina event occurred, I thought about the idea of taking a boat from Galveston or somewhere to New Orleans, anchoring offshore, donning black scuba gear, disembarking, and raiding the local banks and jewelry stores. I figure that a dedicated team could have made off with several hundred million of untraceable cash and diamonds.

Found out that my sister in law's aunt is being taken off life support. She has severe brain damage among many other injuries. Her home was a block from the high school and was destroyed.

So one more victim for this bastard of a tornado.

I'm very sorry for your family's loss.

I'll be attending the memorial service for one of the victims today. She was in her vehicle just west of 20th & Murphy Blvd.

I read a report yesterday, that stated a vehicle was thrown 16 blocks in the tornado. That's more than a mile.
