I didn't get to the gym today, but I rode my ripstick for a couple hours. I also rode my bike for an hour. Then, went to the park for an hour and a half with my youngest...oh, and I actually play with the kids... I don't just sit on the bench and watch.
Anyways.... I am beat. My abs and inner thighs are killing me. |
I might go to the gym tomorrow and pound out some of this frustration.

Had a great workout today. Did a combination of both heavy lifting and supersetting exercises.
My lifts were awesome. Im proud of myself, executed the movements in my exercises very well. Overall technique and form was good in my heavy lifting, but not so much in supersetting exercises. It's understandable, I was exausted and my muscles were dead through supersets(lost a bit of focus to be honest), I felt like I wanted to faint lol...Hard to focus when you're in that state. but I interpret that as a good thing because you're pushing beyond your limits and thats when you know you're training hard. I want to say thank you Silock for your advice on the squatting it really helped me quite a bit, and I noticed a difference as far as squatting below parallel goes. You're absolutely right the load shifts towards your hips more than anything, and thats the area of your body that is designed to handle the load. But the best thing about squatting below parallel, I notice you get a better range of motion, more of a full range of motion than anything, therefore, better quad development. Here's what I did as far as lifting goes: -Squats(free weights) 3 sets of 8 reps, 315lbs -Deadlifts(free weights) 3 sets of 8 reps, 315lbs -Bench Press(free weights) 3 sets of 8 reps, 225lbs Pushups(own bodyweight) 3 sets of 10-15, supersetted that w/ Widegrip chins(used the gravitron machine and I prefer that since you can adjust the weight did about 40lbs, which is approx. 80% of my own bodyweight, can't lift my own weight, and do lots of reps since Im a pretty heavy guy. As I moved along in sets, I decreased the weight for widegrip chins because my muscles were DEAD. I started off with 15 pushups and by the time I hit set #3, I went to about 12, again muscles were dead due to lack of rest). Once these exercises were done, I moved over to both closegrip chins and dips. But, rested a bit after I finished pushups and widegrip chins, more importantly, had to catch a breath. For closegrip chins I was doing about 55lbs, which is about 60-70% of my own bodyweight, then moved to dips did the same weight, no resting in between, moved to set #2, and decreased the weight down to 85lbs, i was dead, exausted, had a hardtime gasping for breath and even lifting and then went over to set #3 and decreased the weight down further to 100lbs which is about half my total body weight. My reps were in the ranges of 8-12 on these exercises. Took a bit of rest after and then trained my core a bit. For the core I did both straight and side planks. Did 3 sets for each exercises and focused completely on contracting the core muscles. For straight planks did 3 sets for 30seconds. For side planks, 3 sets for 30 seconds on each side. After that, did 40 minutes of cardio on the eliptical. I felt really tired when I was done, but when I looked at myself in the mirror after I felt bigger than usual after a workout. They say supersets have a tendency to produce more lactic acid in the body, which in turn releases more GH. Just another remedy or method for putting on muscle. I found them to be very effective, but man, they're really TOUGH to do. |
Grats, man! Glad it worked for you!

Eh, I didn't go. I remember how well working out on not enough rest went last time. Decided I'd be better off resting and just fasting out of mourning instead. I'm taking out my frustrations by doing assassinations in Assassin's Creed II and putting off taking my midterm.

I've decided I'm in pretty ****ing good shape. In fact, I think I'm in the 99th percentile of people weighing over 300lbs. I'm really not trying to brag this time, I just really feel like I learned something about myself today.
It was pretty much a free day in the gym today. I normally take Sundays off, but I had pink eye this week and did next to nothing on Thursday, including no weight lifting or running. So I decided to jump on the elliptical and try to go for an hour solid. It didn't help that I drove my truck instead of my Honda and forgot my water bottle. But, I figured if I needed to jump off and hit the water fountain no big deal. I wasn't doing anything but trying to burn some calories anyways. Turns out I didn't need it at all. I just did level 15 on the elliptical, but I went 7.5 miles and burned up 1400 calories in 62 minutes. My h/r didn't go over 130 until the 10 minute mark. 140 at the 19 minute mark. 150 at the 32 minute mark. And 160 at the 49 minute mark. It never crossed 170. I maintained RPM's at 60-65, and just went. I have never been able to do that before, even when I was doing the elliptical 6 days a week and nothing else. I feel amazing. Sorry, I needed to tell someone. :) |
