The defense would be better with DeJong at SS and Machado at 3b because Machado is an exemplary defensive 3b but it would be more than adequate with Machado at SS and DeJong at 3b.

As for what it would take - I can't even proffer a guess at this point for one reason and one reason alone - Peter !@#$ing Angelos. That guy is such a wild card. I mean if he's being reasonable, something like Hudson, Kelly and one of our half-dozen superfluous outfielders should be more than enough. A guy like JAG would be ideal but if it took Arozarenas that would be steep but doable. Oscar Mercado has made him a bit superfluous especially if Bader has also turned a corner and can keep that kind of defense with solid O.

But good luck expecting Angelos to be reasonable. He's a nut.

id be in favor of Hudson/Kelly/AA OF for a 2 month rental of Manny. We’d be playoff contenders immediately. Move Dejong to 3B. Carp rotates playing 3B/1B/2B.

Does Kelly move the needle for the O’s though?

If I’m them, I look at Kelly and Sisco and see little difference.

The Cardinals also announced that pitcher Alex Reyes will go to Philadelphia on Wednesday to meet with a orthopedic surgeon and shoulder specialist to determine the severity of a muscle strain near his right shoulder. Reyes will meet with Dr. Anthony Romeo, who has been a physician for the Chicago White Sox.

Reyes revealed to the Cardinals recently that he had some fatigue and soreness in his shoulder following his Class AAA Memphis start, which came six days before his return to the major-league rotation. That was his only appearance before going back on the disabled list.:shake:

At this point, no I doubt it.

He’s looked pretty average at best

Glad to have Molina back. Just hope it is not too quick.

Chief Roundup 06-05-2018 07:04 PM

Martinez isn't doing very well. 5 walks and 3 hits already.

Very possibly not.

But if there's anything in baseball as volatile as pitching prospects, its catching prospects. Never hurts to have another good option.

l know you have already said some positive things about Kinzler.

I’ve heard Molina say this contract is it, he’s done in several interviews. Doesn’t Kinzler track well for replacing Molina? Kinzer plays AAA next year and then spends Molina’s last year at his side as the backup.

Marcellus 06-05-2018 08:22 PM

By all appearances the Cards went into this game with the mentality of **** it.

C-Mart had 4 innings at Double A as his entire rehab and they had nothing outside of Gomber ready to go if that failed.

7 runs so far to the worst offense in baseball.

Knizner.

And yes, he is well situated to replace Yadi. The worry is that he's AAA capable right now and another full season toiling away in Memphis could stall his development.

He's passed Kelly with a bullet for me but if we didnt also have Martinez, Herrera and Soto I'd still be reluctant to trade Kelly because like I said, catchers just go off the rails sometimes.

I heard - from a pretty reputable guy - that he tore multiple muscles off the humerus. If that’s the case, he’s done not only for 2018, but also 2019 and possibly forever.

He said it was the worst injury he’s seen in a looooooong time.

In a season full of remarkably shitty baseball, this game still stands out.

This is such an easy team to dislike. Frankly, they've been that way for three years. Its bland, boring and all too often stupid baseball. When a space cadet like Matt Carpenter is the 'core' of your lineup and a key offensive leader, it's no wonder that the team plays brainless baseball as often as it does. Matheny and Carpenter are enough to overcome the acumen of Molina.

Getting a second opinion from Dr. Romeo is a bad, bad sign.

But anyone that's getting information on Twitter from Chris O'Leary right now can eat a whole bag o' dicks. Because **** Chris O'Leary, man...

The bolded says it all in a nutshell.

How many dumbass base running mistakes can a team make year after year for example?

Wong dipshittery continues at the plate. He plays good defense and hits the occasional walk off though.
