$15 million base next season and $16 the season after that. Can potentially recover the 2nd you gave up for Jones. You have Omenihu coming back as interior pressure alongside him with the continued development of FAU and Karlaftis.

We get real 'conventional' real fast with that setup but y'know what, I'm down.

That dude is just hilariously strong. He's not Dexter Lawrence in that he doesn't collapse the pocket from inside, but he makes sure it stays where it started.

Yeah I get that all, I just think where Karlaftis is sometimes seen as neutral he really isn't.There's plenty of stuff against the run where he's just not seen it and been washed a mile away. I don't think he's been the edge setting guy that FAU clearly isn't intended to be. I think he can and will get there, my hope is he takes that big step this year.

But that's apparently not in the cards so we gotta pivot. So I could have a season with Jones, Vita and Omenihu inside with those 2 outside.

The bummer for me is I kinda WAS excited to see this DL with Jones and Omenihu. I still think the DT rotation is pish and the DEs are raw as hell. But I figured Coburn would take Nnadi's snaps and be an immediate upgrade against the run, and Omenihu would be a big upgrade on Clark. For obvious passing downs having Karlaftis, Omenihu, Jones and FAU was pretty enticing.

Wonder if with hindsight anyone would've approached the DL differently this offseason?

I think both Coburn and Farrell fit the bill for this

100% this, I’m done with the guy. If I’m KC I pull the offer and let him sit out until week 7. Then keep him off the roster with the two week exemption and continue to not pay him and collect the cap space to carry over next year. Then franchise his dumbass for $25 million and ship him to the highest bidder and forget he ever existed.

Chris clearly has other priorities that come before winning, so he can go fulfill those needs elsewhere just like Tyreek.
