Yeah, the Odom gamble looks like it's going to work out extremely well.
The biggest risk we took was the possibility of losing Kuligowski but we seem to have paid him well enough to keep him around for a little while longer.
That's the race I see coming - will Pinkel retire in time for Odom to move into his chair and Kul to get the DC gig before Kul moves on. I suspect he's going to get some nice offers next season after yet another year of this DL playing it's tail off.
The good news is that I don't think we're looking at another Stull or Widenhofer for a very long time. Pinkel has not only rebuild the program, but he appears to have developed a very strong coaching 'tree' that came up in the Missouri program. We'll have some very talented coaching candidates for a long time.

Yeah. I think Pinkel sticks through 2016 or 2017. That gives him the opportunity to cash in on the current freshman and soph. classes, which are the best he has recruited in back-to-back years.
Looking for a new coach in 2018... Herman is my No. 1 choice. I think he's the next coaching superstar (And Urban Meyer does, too). But he might not be on the market at that point... key would be for him to stay at Houston or land at a P5 program that's a step down the run for Mizzou. Hopefully, he sticks in Houston at least three years.
Best case at that point, IMO, would be Odom going elsewhere to be the head man, and having success/being ready for the Mizzou job 4-5 years into Herman's tenure, as I think he'd eventually be poached by a blue blood.
