You keep mentioning Clyde but he’s probably not playing and it’s probably addition by subtraction

He's been a key player in our three most impressive wins this season. The facts are the facts even if people aren't impressed with him.

The bottom line is even if you take out Clyde that's still eight players missing.

He was seen catch punts at practice. Why would he do that if he's not gonna play?

I don't hate Clyde nearly as much as many here do but I'm not sure McKinnon doesn't make most of those plays anyway. However, it's most likely a moot point because I'm not sure what the Chiefs would have to gain by not activating CHE today when they made other roster moves. At this point, they are gonna roll with Pacheco and McKinnon.

I don’t get it on the over. The Chiefs are much more of a ball control team this year that comes up with big plays when they need them I kind of like the under

Couple of things.

1. You can’t judge Andy losing two championship games in a row as any basis for that. The fact he made two in a row with McNabb as his QB is impressive. Mahomes is light years better than Donovan.

2. Go to KC and get world class BBQ. Once you do you will understand just how disgusting Skyline Chili looks. Plus it’s so good you might change your team allegiance.

McNabb had a very strong defense backing him, which is not the case with Mahomes. Check out these seasons:

2000 - Eagles were 4th in Scoring Defense
2001 - Eagles were 2nd in Scoring Defense
2002 - Eagles were 2nd in Scoring Defense
2003 - Eagles were 7th in Scoring Defense
2004 - Eagles were 3rd in Scoring Defense

Meanwhile Joe Burrow's defense shut down Josh Allen for 10 points. Bengals are giving up 18 points per game in the Playoffs the last 2 seasons while Mahomes' defense gives up 25 points per game in the Playoffs for his career.

Cincy's playoff defense allowing 18 ppg is similar to the #1 or #2 scoring defenses in the regular season for 2021 and 2022 seasons. In a battle of great QB's, it comes down to the defense on each side. And maybe special teams. Butker missed a field goal in the most recent 3 point loss. Every little thing counts.

He's been practicing for like 3 weeks now. Still has been inactive since coming off of IR.

Sometimes the numbers don't tell the whole story. The Bengals during their playoff run have played:

A bad Raiders team. The offensively punchless Titans. The Chiefs who scored 24 despite a worthless second half/OT, the Lamar less Ravens, and a Bills team that had multiple dropped passes and Allen refusing to not chuck it deep every other play.

The Chiefs have played (amongst others, not gonna do the whole list):

The Patriots with Brady, the good version of the Bills x2, the Texans when Deshaun Watson was good and dynamic.

I agree with you that whomever's defense plays the best tomorrow will probably win but I think the Bengals defense tends to be overvalued based on just the numbers alone.

The QB's Cinci have faced in the playoffs.

1. Carr
2. Tannerhill
3. Mahomes
4. Stafford
5. Huntley
6. Allen

Only two elite guys on there in reality.

Smashing faces.

Good. That makes all the sense in the world for the gameplan we’re going to run.

So relieved we didn’t lose Lammons for CEH.

KC gave up 24 points to a similar Titans team. That's 8 points more than Cincy's defense. And in relative terms, it's a pretty large gap of around 40% in points allowed. Burrow only needed to score 17 points to win his game, which is a joke. He scored 19 in that game. Mahomes needed 25 against the Titans, but he torched the Titans for 38.

In terms of the "what if" game with Josh Allen & Buffalo making silly mistakes, the Chiefs defense gave up 20 points to the Jaguars last week. But it could have easily been 30+ points based on a few key mistakes by the Jaguars. The "what if" game applies to every offense or defense of course.

Having said the above...if Mahomes and his teammates are locked in on offense and kicking field goals, they can score 40ish on pretty much anyone. They showed this against the Niners in San Fran earlier in the season.

Don't forget that during that game earlier this year....Thornhill picked off Burrow and they called it back because of a bullshit PI call on McDuffie.

The same McDuffie who held Chase in check.

This is why I think we desperately need to implement more play action into the game plan. Andy really does not use it enough and while I understand why - CEH was ****ing garbage - Pacheco's emergence leaves no excuses. Andy has to make them pay for this, make them respect the run, and keep Lou and his front 7 honest with those drop backs and spies. It's hard to be as creative as Lou has been when you're in your base defense getting gashed constantly.

chiefzilla1501 01-28-2023 03:55 PM

So what is the deal with smith-Marsette? Is there any chance he takes on any return duties to give Pacheco and Toney a bit of a blow? That seems like a weird spot to try someone new. It makes the lammons decision a little tougher because now we know the chiefs probably could have had both lammons and kemp to shore up ST. Unless this guy has ST value outside of just return duties

Man this would be a really scary time to try out a new punt or kick returner.
