Jeff Suppan

Starting a game 7 of the NLCS?? WTF?? When did this guy become an ace? He was never anything but mediorce as a Royal.

Braincase 10-19-2006 06:15 PM

I'm guessing a little bit of run support makes a big difference.

Anyong Bluth 10-19-2006 06:16 PM

Suppan wasn't horrible here...

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-19-2006 06:17 PM

Do some research guys. He outpitched Roger Clemens in Game 7 of the '04 LCS as well...this has happened before.

Man how baseball has changed over 20 years or so. A 4 ERA is considered good?? Dudes with those kinds of numbers would never have been starters back in the day.

He always pitched way better in the NL than the AL, I don't know why.

The parks are also 10% smaller.

Its because #1 the American League is far superior to the NL as witnessed by anyone who has watched interleague play the last several years and #2 NL Pitchers don't face a DH. An extra free out every couple innings does wonders. There are no easy outs in the American League unless you're facing Angel Berroa.

Everyone pitches better against NL hitters.
