To neuter or not to neuter...3/4 chow

got a 3/4 chow and pitt/german shepard mix in July

wife wants him neutered cause he is now very persistantly after her beagle/terrior mix---dog is 8 years old and has been spayed 7 years ago after one litter of pups.

Never had two dogs before so

I don't want him neutered, but wife is worried he will hurt the other dog

what to do
what to do
???

Cut his balls off. Not like he is purebred and you could make money by pimping him out.

Brock 12-13-2006 05:25 PM

Why would you not?

he is only a puppy not even 8 months old...

Looks purebred and frankly I want him to be a protector and kind of like his fiesty self...

maybe its defiance cause she had me neutered ;)

John_Locke 12-13-2006 05:28 PM

besides, its not like there will be any puppies. I don't see the harm

He can still be a protector without his balls. Just because you are a pussy now it does not mean the dog will become one.

Why don't you just go do what she says?

If you think that neutering is only for birth control then I think you and your dog should schedule back to back appointments.

The benefits to a spayed adult male is they immediately demonstrate the ability to utilize internet search engines. Go get the surgery.

Please.

I wanted first hand stories like so many of other stories and questions on this board.

what is your deal?

Phobia 12-13-2006 05:49 PM

Nobody, I'm just giving you a hard time. It's what I do. It's in good fun, dude. Don't ever take me too seriously.

If you spay your male early enough he won't have such a driving urge to mark his territory - everywhere, including your house. Spayed males are generally less hyper and less aggressive towards family members. They won't roam (and get hit by a car). They'll have less tendency to dig. They'll have less tendency to tear up your house.

They won't get testicular cancer and are generally healthier overall.
