Frank Gore's New Contract

I wonder what the Chiefs and Larry Johnson think of this contract?

Frank Gore will receive an initial signing bonus of $6.5 million and total guarantees of nearly $14 million. The contract will pay Gore $13.862 million in its first two seasons and $18.212 million in the first three years. Because Gore had one season remaining on his original rookie contract, the four-year extension creates a five-year deal, and the total value over the course of the five seasons is $28.012 million.

Base salaries are $450,000 (for 2007), $2.5 million (2008), $2.5 million (2009), $2.85 million (2010) and $2.9 million (2011). The contract includes a $4.165 million option bonus and roster bonuses of $1.75 million (2009), $1.85 million (2010) and $2 million (2011). Gore's full base salary of $2.5 million in 2009 is guaranteed.

I would think Larry will want much more than this.

Larry probably gets like a five year, 40 million deal I bet.

Frank Gore deserves the money after all that he has been through and a great season with a team with absolutely no offense besides for him.

If LJ runs the ball 350 times or more next season, I hope the hell not.

I'd rather not spend that kind of money on a RB unless they are Faulk/Priest/Tomlinson type RB.

Drew Rosenhaus is Frank Gore's agent. Who does Larry Johnson have as an agent?

SoCalBronco 03-27-2007 09:29 PM

SF raped Gore in that.

Bad deal for Frank. Too bad.

tk13 03-27-2007 09:34 PM

That looks like a total bargain in this market. Gore just signed away his prime years for way under market value.

Wilson8 03-27-2007 09:45 PM

It does look like a SF team bargain. What does Shaun Alexander's or LaDainian Tomlinson's contract look like? I would think that is what Larry and his agent are expecting.

the Talking Can 03-27-2007 09:49 PM

LJ will be asking for double that..at least

in a couple of years that contract will definetly seem like a bargain....assuming Gore continues to produce

I would have thought that the Nate Clements contract would have influenced Frank Gore's agent and his contract with San Francisco. It is only natural if you see your team passing out big money, you want some of that too.

Info from the Nate Clements signing - San Francisco 49ers have signed Clements to an eight-year contract worth $80 million.

Clements had been seeking a signing bonus of at least $15 million. According to ESPN, the Niners gave him $22.5 million in guaranteed money.

Demonpenz 03-27-2007 11:25 PM

man they niners could have that ship in the right direction if they signed him to that price

Mecca 03-27-2007 11:28 PM

The Niners were actually under the salary floor which is why they are front loading contracts and such.........

I don't even think that's under market value, most teams have a RB. Alot of teams let RB's walk instead of paying them...let's ask Edge James how many teams came calling...

Chiefs will make LJ play out his contract and then Franchise him a year before trading him.

Halfcan 03-28-2007 01:43 AM

Or they will man up and pay him what he is worth.

You never know with Crazy Carl in charge.
