Brodie Croyle is the man! Just get him an O-line.

That's the priority for '08. We've not seen much of him, but from what I've seen, Brodie is the man. He'll be a good QB for us. I'm not saying he'll set the world on fire in '08. But, he can be a top 15 QB in '08 and grow into a better QB in '09 and beyond. For Herm's style of offense, that's good enough. But, he'll need an O-line. Carl and Herm need to get Brodie an O-line. I think Brodie can floursih with and O-line to protect him and give him some time to throw and a good dose of confidence. Here's my plan. It's not brain surgery. It's obvious.

1. Draft the best LT possible
2. Move McIntosh to RT
3. Move Niswanger to C
5. Keep Waters where he's at
6. Sign the best OG possible from FA
7. Trade or cut Weigman, Turley, Terry, and Wellbourn
8. Let Svitek compete for backup RT / LT in training camp, if he doesn't step up his game, cut his ass

I think the Chiefs will have to use 1st round or 2nd round draft picks for O-linemen over the next 3 NFL drafts. This will be a long term project. I think the O-line is the most important componant on the filed. The O-line, as a unit, is more important than even a QB in my book. We need to invest in and pursue a top 5 O-line. The offense and even the defense will benefit from it.

Sorry for the football thread. We can all now return to the poop threads.

I know my son asked Santa for this for Christmas ... Hey wait a minute........

I agree with ya. Get an Oline that will protect Brodie and allow LJ (if and when he comes back) some running room. Don't know if I necessarily agree with using top picks for the next couple years on O-Line though. Good Guards can be picked up in the 2nd-3rd rounds. It is the OT's that need to be the higher picks. IMO OT is a skill position in and of itself.

Just out of curiousity, what the hell makes you think he is worth a damn. He made some good passes yesterday, but he also made some craptacular ones.

I'm not trying to say yay or nay on him right now, although I lean towards nay. But this type of ball washing is the exact same shit that helped Huard start the season.

The kid deserves a chance to prove himself sure. But to be honest, the fact that he could not take the starting job away from Huard until Huard basicaly was so injured he could barely play anymore is a big mark down against him.

I just don't understand the need already be on your knees ready to get a vitamn E facial off of what we have seen so far.

Cut or release everyone but Nuswanger and Waters.
Start over or Broyle won't have a career.

I haven't seen anything that would keep me from drafting a QB, if the right one was there.

For having such a gun this dudes arms are PUNY. He's not that impressive. He hasn't played much, but I haven't seen anything positive from him other than... he gets the ball from point A to (around) point B quickly. They better invest in a great backup because this little dude is gonna get the crap beat out of him next year. Poor Kelli.

I've seen some good things from him even with a terrible O-line. But, we still don't really know. That's true. But, I say it's a risk worth taking. What's the alternative? Draft a 1st round QB? Then, we'll have to wait another year to draft a 1st round LT. To get this team back on track, it will require some calculated risks. I believe Brodie is a risk worth taking. But, to succeed, he MUST have a different O-line or he is going to get his back broken like a twig.

Has there ever been a Brodie thread without Kelli's name coming up? NTTIAWWT

Sure thing. I agree with you. Although I'm not opposed to drafting a QB. My point was that yeah, give the kid a chance sure, get him a better O-line, most definately. But to declare the kid king of football already seems a bit much to me.

I think that until we get an NFL quality O-Line we won't be able to do anything with the QB position. I personally believe having seen Croyle play in the SEC that he has the tools and the leadership abilities to take this team to the Super Bowl. That's my opinion. I understand that others may not share the same thoughts and that's fine, but to draft a first round QB with a top five pick is ridiculous at this point w/o a decent O-Line for them to play behind. The answer is going to have to be pickup O-Line positions in the first day, maybe a CB. Then see if we need to pick up any FA's The more we spend on a top five QB the less we'll have for FA to use to get some immediate needs filled in the O-line. JMO

I personally don't see a QB out there that I'd spend a top 5 pick on. But if there was one, I wouldn't hesitate to do it with or without a good offensive line.
