My grade of our first day: C+
I love the Chiefs, but I hated what we did our first day.
You can't criticize us in terms of value or talent -- we ended up with three of the most talented players from this weekend altogether. Dorsey was a brilliant pick, and probably the best possible option we could have had. But Albert is completely unproven at tackle. Guard is an awful position to Draft nonetheless. Giving up two picks for him seemed like a disasterous decision. Flowers is incredibly talented but he's got so many character concerns my brain is exploding. Here's hoping we continue drafting talented players. But here's hoping we avoid some of the sloppy decisioin making from an absolutely zany day one. |
we didnt give up two we swapped thirds.
as for the overall comment, i loved this day 1 draft! maybe that makes me crazy  |
We didn't give up two picks for Albert. Unless you're counting the #17 pick.

I knew you'd hate today - it went nothing like you wanted it to, lol!

You're high.

We gave up 88pts on the draft value to move up to 15 from 17 which is a point difference of 100pts. So we didn't exactly mortgage the farm for him.

How bout Duane Brown going in the first? And you said I reached

We didn't give up two picks. All we did was move back 10 spots in the 3rd round and kick in a 5th rounder. That's nada.
Albert doesn't last to 15 if he had played most of his time in college at tackle. The dude is 6'7", 320 lbs., insanely quick on his feet, and absolutely punishes defenders in the open field. He could definitely end up being the best lineman to come out of this draft. |
The Chiefs swapped poistions in the first round (17 to 15) and the third round (66 to 76) and gave up a 5th round pick to take Albert.

Three years from now, you'll be changing that C+ to having multiple orgasms with the hot substitute teacher. And the best part is- she doesn't get caught and you're all smiles.

Dude I shocked to see this from you of all people.
Dorsey was a great pick, a franchise pick that you don't get to make very often. I don't know why you are so down on Albert. I look at it this way, Steve Hutchison was drafted with the 17th pick in 2001. He was strictly a guard. So we grab Albert at 15, and if he is strictly a guard I think the pick still has a lot of value. Now I believe he will be a great LT. Bringing him in at LT next to Brian Waters gives us a huge left side of the line to pass protect and to carve out holes for LJ. And don't forget that means we upgraded at RT by moving McIntosh over there. We swapped 3rd round pick (Moved down 10 spots) and gave them a 5th. I'd rather have Albert over William, Clady, Otah and the rest of the bunch. |
Watching a little of the highlight films for Branden Albert, I feel good about it. He really does have a Roaf-like build, and if you saw the film of him pulling you know he can move. Very athletic, as someone said on another thread, also has a basketball background. I don't think he should have a real big problem.
As for Flowers, you know I haven't been too thrilled about his character either. With the interest the Chiefs have had though, and the fact that they took him...shows to me that those flaws aren't an issue for them. Here's to hoping their right. A+ so far. Hope we can get a WR, DE, G, and another corner that can all produce. |
Grades now are meaningless.

This thread is worse than AIDS.
