Mortensen: Carl "upped the ante at the last second to a 2nd rd pick"
On Countdown:
Said that Carl Peterson in a last minute negotiating tactic upped the ante to a 2nd round pick for Tony Gonzalez and the trading partners balked. Also says LJ's inactive status is just for team violations, not the legal issues. |
Adam Shefter just said the same thing.
Said a Chief official called the Pack 5 minutes before the deadline to tell them that he wanted a 2nd round pick instead of a third. Also said that LJ was late for the team's Charter to Carolina, and that he was told if he was late again, he would be disciplined, and that tardiness for team meetings has been an ongoing problem. |
Why would any other GM in the league want to deal with this prick?
"We got a deal for Tony? Great.. Oh now you want more?" That's like trying to buy lemonade from a greedy child. |

Welcome to Tuesday.

And why does everyone keep leaving out WHY he asked for a 2nd round pick? The Packers 3rd involved several conditionals. Had we traded TG to the Pack, and he not played 3 seasons, KC would have owed the Packers a pick. Had he not reached certain statisticl benchmarks, Kc would have owed the Pack another pick. Had it just been a flat 3rd, TG would be a Packer, IMO. |

If anyone is mad at Carl for not trading TG for a CONDITIONAL 3rd round pick (with the conditions only effecting us)...they are off their rocker. |

But it tells you what they (Packers) think about his age, and his willingness to play for 2-3 more years. They're covering their asses. |
