Herm Likely Here One More Year...
IMHO
I'll try not to say I told you so....but my gut says Herm is back for one more year. Think about it... :hmmm: Personally, I hope I'm wrong, but it makes too much sense....if you really think about it (and you ignore Herm's "record"--which could be easy to do, given the state the Chiefs were in when he 'took over'.) Pioli might be willing to go through one more draft with Herm (his strength) to add to the good base of young players we have. He'll then add a few key FAs with the cap space we have. Then tell Herm, "It's time to pull an Arizona or Baltimore...in 2009. Or you will be working in player personnel next year, or with another team." No one EXPECTS the rebuild to get done in one year; so Pioli....gives lets Herm sink or swim. He could give him enough rope to hang himself, or Herm shocks the world by turning it around in one season (no "shock" really, given then NFL today.) If Herm succeeds, Pioli adds to his legend; if Herm fails, Pioli fires him next year...none-the-worse for the one-year probation to Herm. And he gets his pick of a couple of strong head coach candidates sitting out the 2009 season. If anything, it just gives Pioli a "bye" year....to assess the team, the needs, and to develop a plan for 2010. Thoughts? :hmmm: |
You're crazy.

My gut is telling me Herm gets the Axe, kind of like my prediction that Clark wants progrees. Lets see if my other prediction comes true which Clark wants a franchise QB this offseason( most likely Stafford if he's there

This is consistent in quality with your political takes, at least.

Guess we'll see.... :toast: |
Your gut, huh? I think that's just the sandwich you had.

As a guy who doesn't think Herm is nearly as bad as people paint him to be, I can't think of a single scenario where Pioli would or should want to keep herm around.
He doesn't deserve someone else's table scraps. |

I had that same crazy feeling, coming up with the opinion that Herm really needs to go. It won't benefit the organization, keeping an old hire from the old GM who was honored by a less-than-half empty stadium at his last game. Thinking about how Herm got here in the first place, solidifies it.
Herm will have lots of bucks to ease his pain. Think about that. |

The best rebuttal to this crazy talk that I can think of is this: If Pioli were to do as you say he might, then he would be looking out for himself before the team he was just hired to run. I simply don't think that Clark would have hired someone with that kind of selfishness.

I hope you are right....:) |
There's been too much rumor about the staff told they're out for it to just be smoke, I think. We'll see.
