Scratch Cowher off the list as well...
Source says Cowher to Chiefs 'not going to happen'
So maybe the Chiefs have moved past their love affair with former Pittsburgh coach Bill Cowher. Or maybe they haven't. Cowher's an appealing candidate to replace Herm Edwards, after all. He won a Super Bowl four years ago with the Steelers and still is young enough that he could coach another team for a decade and still retire at 61. Here's the problem, according to a source close to Cowher: "It's not going to happen." The source said Cowher has reiterated to friends and colleagues over the past few months that he has no desire to coach in 2009. He hasn't spoken with any NFL team about a vacancy this offseason, and the source said even the Chiefs couldn't pry Cowher out of the CBS broadcasting booth. "He's said no," the source said. "I just don’t see it." The source did say Cowher hasn't ruled out a return in 2010, but that won't do the Chiefs much good, will it? http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/644 |

OK, gang...

Soon this thread will be great
for many to poop on |
So a piece written by some blogger who was told this information by some nebulous source = Cowher isn't coming? Got it.
BTW, a source close to Pioli told me that he isn't even going to bother hiring any coaches this season - especially a head coach. He is just going to let Gailey run the Offense and he will do the D and ST. It must be true. |
but wait... he bought a house in Leawood....

This strengthens Shanahan IMO

If nothing happens in the first 2-3 days of this coming week, then it's clear that Pioli is waiting on Haley.

The NFL doesn't permit coaching hires during Super Bowl week, or at least they discourage them. |

We won't hear anything until February 2, at earliest. |

Doubtful they would do that. |
