Job Offers In Other Places

Hypothetical: You're working at your job, doing whatever it is that you do, when your phone rings. It's a corporate headhunter on the prowl.

You have a short chat, and on a whim you send him your resume.

A week later, you have a firm job offer in hand with a company that is a virtual clone of your company. Same quality of company, same type of boss, same type of work, same type of office environment, same benefits, same chances of advancement. The only differences are:

1. The new job is in a different city/country.

2. The new job pays 20 percent more in real terms, and includes an adjustment for the cost of living in the new location.

When the following poll is posted, please check all of the locations where you would move and take the new job.

As a bonus question, in the situation above, in what city would you be most happy about getting the offer? It can be any city in the U.S. or the rest of the world, but must be more than 100 miles from where you currently live.

Miami would be fun and new until the next impossible dream job popped up somewhere else.

CrazyPhuD 05-19-2009 06:20 PM

Would I still be banging the secretary at lunch in the new office?

Halfcan 05-19-2009 06:20 PM

I would move to Vancouver, Paris, or London.

Don't leave him Daface, I'm sure you're a vital and valued cog in bRainman, Inc.

None of the above. I've been to a surprising number of these locations.

"A small town in Montana (Let's pick Lame Deer.)" Dude, of all the small towns in Montana you pick Lame Deer? The place is a ****hole. I won't even drive through that place at night without the Glock 20 next to me with the 15 round clip. The rez is not a good place to live.

Also, this. Pick a non-reservation small town next time!

Kevin, you don't have to go through all of this just to find out what it will take to hire me. Just ask.

Rain Man 05-19-2009 06:30 PM

Lame Deer's on a reservation? I just picked it because I find the name interesting.

Okay, you can pick a non-reservation Montana town. But something on the eastern plains.

How about a Mo town for those of us who already live elsewhere?????????????

Mr. Flopnuts 05-19-2009 06:31 PM

Walla Walla? Why not Seattle? Walla Walla is cool I guess, if you like visiting death row murderers in prison.

BigMeatballDave 05-19-2009 06:33 PM

I would be willing to relocate in 8 yrs. My son is 10 and lives with his mother.
