Chan Gailey...

is he capable of coaching the Chiefs to a top 12 offensive ranking this season?

I think so... but a lot has to happen to get there.

Cassel is the real thing at QB. (I hope he is)

Bowe stops dropping so many balls.

LJ mans up (he seems to being doing it)

AND

either:

Bradley manages to not get hurt all year because Engram just won't cut it at #2

or

Cottam catches 500 yards and a couple of TDs. The guy has solid hands, fast, and he is a mountain so it is not out of the realm of possibility.

/enjoying his summer properly

Phobia 06-11-2009 12:44 AM

Cottam ain't catching 500 yards. I'll put money on that. I still don't know what has given you the idea that he has solid hands.

Discuss Thrower 06-11-2009 01:01 AM

Chan will be lucky to get Top 20 because:

1. The Offensive Line won't be good enough to keep Cassel's jersey clean.
2. Chiefs will be lucky to get close to 1500 receiving yards... Nobody will be able to get close to half of Bowe's share of that.
3. Brad Cottam is the new Jason Dunn... NTTAWT
4. LJ might man up, he might not, but he's still not going to look like the back he used to be behind a line that exists now.

I think you mean WHEN Bradley gets hurt, DVD must emerge!!!

Moves well about the field, runs above average routes and uses his frame protect the pass. Catches the ball well and a solid intermediate range target.

I'm just saying that while he is no TonyG... he also isn't Jason Dunn.

and if Cottam stays healthy.

If you watch the videos, most of the highlights are the exact same play from different angles. If that's his highlights we may be in trouble.

BossChief 06-11-2009 05:19 AM

Go to camp, Cottam can fly and can consistantly catch the ball. He has good hands.

In this offense, built on underneath dump offs and yac yards, Cottam could flourish on chip release routes.

500 yards isnt out of the question THIS YEAR.

He should develop into an outstanding blocker as well, the stronger he can get the better.

he will never fill the shoes of Tony in the court of public opinion but could have a very productive career in this system.

Cassel took alot of sacks last year and used his tight end alot, I suppose Cottam could achieve similar production as NE tight ends did on average.

400 yards with 4-5 touchdowns is more likely of a achievable goal though...

I just hope he can stay healthy.

Jethopper 06-11-2009 05:51 AM

500 yards isn't far-fetched due to our lackluster WR corp.

you may be in trouble, but brad and the chiefs not so much.....

Saulbadguy 06-11-2009 06:48 AM

Cottam catches 20 passes at most.

Maybe if Thigpen was still starting, but hopefully Cassel won't lock on to his safety valve from the snap.

We're not going to be running the same offense we were last year....

Cottam is going to be blocking. That's about it....

Well said sir, and I couldnt agree more. Brad has NFL ability, and can make a difference on this offense. I am really excited to watch the big guy go this year.
