Winter Beer Bonanza!!!

Winter is the best time of the year to drink beer. I'm trying out a few seasonals tonight and I thought I'd get you're input as to what some of the best winter beers are. The ones I have in my fridge now are Winter Hook, Stone's Double Bastard, Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, and Anderson Valley Winter Solstice.

Starting with Winter Hook and am enjoying it immensely. What are you're favorites? If they're regional let me know, though, because I'm in SoCal and don't want a wild goose chase. :D

The Boulevard Nutcracker Ale has grown on me the past few winters.

I can't get Stone products in MO; alas, I've never had the Double Bastard (though I've managed to try Arrogant Bastard and Oaked Arrogant Bastard).

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is one of my all-time favorites. I bought two cases of it this year. Boulevard's Nutcracker Ale is awesome when fresh (its wet-hopped). I'm not a big fan of Winter Warmers, though. So the only holiday seasonals I like are the non-Winter Warmer beers. Nutcracker arguably is a WW but that's as close as I get.

Winter Bourbon Ale. It's an AB product I think, but pretty good for a seasonal winter brew. It warms you up a bit, tastes wintery and has a vanilla flavor to it as well. The snowman on the label is pretty cool too!

Guinness Extra Stout is THE winter beer.

PBR or Wiedemann. :)
No really I'm taking notes on this thread and making my list of seasonals to try.

Glad to see that I'm not alone in having a shit-ton of craft beer in my fridge.

Oh, to add to the thread: many breweries put out seasonal Imperial Stouts during the wintertime. For cost-conscious-yet-still-great offerings, get Bell's Expedition Stout and Founders Imperial Stout (I'm drinking one now and its damn fine).

My hand-crafted Pale Ale is bought in the 20-pack.

Dunit35 01-02-2010 08:10 PM

My gf bought me a mix sixer for xmas, just cracked into them tonight.

First one: Tommy Knocker Jack Whacker Wheat Ale...awesome.
2nd: Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat...good
3rd: Ed Hardy...gross. She liked the bottle.
